After taking office as the new President and CEO of GM Korea on August 1st, Hector Villarreal decided to visit the Bupyeong plant in his first move as the subsidiary’s top executive.
Hector Villarreal visited the Bupyeong plant on August 23rd to oversee increased production and quality control of new products coming out of the factory, where mass assembly recently began of the refreshed 2024 Chevy Trailblazer and 2024 Buick Encore GX as well as the all-new Buick Envista. The new President and CEO of GM Korea seeks to ensure defect-free initial manufacturing quality.
“The new products produced at the Bupyeong plant are receiving excellent reviews from domestic and global customers, and are key models that are driving the sustainability of the Korean business,” said President and CEO of GM Korea, Hector Villarreal. “Our goal of securing a combined annual production capacity of 500,000 units remains unchanged, to quickly respond to exploding global demand through the assembly of new products without disruption based on flawless manufacturing quality,” he added.
During his visit to the Bupyeong plant facilities, GM Korea’s new leader toured all the main production areas of the complex, including the body and paint shop, as well as the assembly and inspection lines. Villarreal praised the work of the plant’s employees as they produced and supplied products in a stable manner to achieve the annual production target of 500,000 vehicles, emphasizing the importance of quality control.
In particular, Hector Villarreal’s visit to the Bupyeong plant comes after a rigorous inspection and improvement process at the production facilities for approximately two weeks, including the summer vacation period in early August. The adjustments were made in order to improve the process to respond to the strong demand for new products in the domestic and North American markets, substantially increasing production at the plant.
Vehicles manufactured by GM Korea at the Bupyeong plant are recognized by customers in the global market for their excellent quality and reliability. The all-new 2024 Buick Envista recently began factory production and has received high praise in the U.S. media, while the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer is now arriving on the U.S. market, pursuing its remarkable global success thanks in part to higher product quality.
