In June 2023, The Chevy Colorado Had Its Best Retail Sales Month Since 2020

It’s been no secret that the rollout of the all-new 2023 Chevy Colorado has been slow at best, as sales of the next-gen midsizer were markedly down as compared to figures to quarters prior. Now, it appears as though deliveries of the Colorado has picked up drastically.

Although General Motors is currently only publishing quarterly sales figures, GM Authority has learned that the Chevy Colorado enjoyed its best retail sales month since December 2020 over the course of June 2023. This is quite notable considering that the midsize pickup had a down Q2 2023, indicating that sales were indeed quite robust during June 2023.

Chevrolet Colorado Sales - Q2 2023 - United States

In the United States, Chevrolet Colorado deliveries totaled 19,909 units in Q2 2023, a decrease of about 12 percent compared to 22,497 units sold in Q2 2022.

In the first six months of the year, Colorado sales decreased about 25 percent to 33,165 units.

In other Colorado-related news, GM Authority reported that deliveries of the off-road-focused 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 began in late June 2023. Positioned as the go-anywhere pickup, the Colorado ZR2 adds a suite of all-terrain goodies that crank its dirt-slinging abilities to 11, including Multimatic DSSV dampers, aluminum skid plates, 33-inch OD MT tires, and a total of 10.7 inches of ground clearance. The 2023 model-year-only Desert Boss package adds even more off-road features like 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a new off-road bumper and fascia treatment, a roof-mounted light bar, and more for the most hardcore customers.

As a reminder, the 2023 Chevy Colorado features two engine options, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which produces either 310 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque, or 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, depending on the tune.

Under the body panels, the all-new Colorado rides on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri. Looking forward, the 2024 Chevy Colorado is currently scheduled to enter production on October 30th, 2023.

  1. Duh, they actually started to show up at the dealership

  2. With the cost of these vehicles around $50K (give or take) with options, GM should re-introduce the S10 and Sonoma for the average guy (or girl!) as an affordable vehicle. The Ford Maverick seems to be a good alternative right now.

    1. 50k is the absolute top end of the range Lee! Ford Maverick is not a pickup truck.

      1. G-man – I’ve seen them closing in on 55K, all negotiable of course 😉
What is the Maverick ?? Back in the day it used to be a car !!

    2. Good alternative, I won’t debate on that but those Mavericks are seeing unfair mark-ups too and so long as Ford lives up to the expectations of the Stock Market, to an extent, they won’t care to much when it comes to customer affordability needs, same for gm and Stellantis.

  3. I thought I ordered a 2023 ZR2 almost three weeks ago but yesterday the dealer says order has not been sent in yet. Now the 2024 Colorado is suppose to be taking orders 24 Aug. Always been a Chevy guy but…..

  4. The Maverick has just gone up $2500-$3000 and there are none available , you will need to order a 24 and wait .
the lower price versions are non existent . and you can get a decent work truck Colorado in the mid 30’s .
the 50k that you mentioned is pretty much a loaded Z71 or AT4 . The similar equipped Maverick is in the 40’s
I’ll take my chances on the Colorado

  8. Well that’s great for a Chevrolet but I ordered a GMC canyon Denali in February and I still don’t have it and now I’ve been told it’s been pulled for some quality check. I’m losing money every single day on the canyon that I have to trade in because of mileage is going up. I’m getting extremely frustrated with GM. This is crap. We’re six months in and I’m looking at another month before I eventually get this canyon. I don’t wanna hear that. Jim is not selling enough vehicles because there’s absolutely none at the dealership. Someone’s got to get their act together and get their act together soon. I have lost thousands of dollars waiting for this vehicle.
