Here’s When 2023 Chevy Tahoe, Suburban Orders Will Close

The 2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban are both in the third model year of their respective latest generations. The Chevy Tahoe is currently in its fifth generation while the Suburban is in its twelfth.

Now, GM Authority has learned when orders will close for both the 2023 Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban, as production for the model year prepares to wind down.

Orders will close for both the 2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban in mid-September 2023, approximately six weeks from today. Specifically, the week of September 14th will be the last when customers can order a 2023 Tahoe or Suburban.

Start of regular production (SORP) for the 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban is expected to kick off in November, so 2023 production should end a few days prior. A mid-cycle refresh for the two full-size SUVs was expected to arrive for the 2024 model year, but GM Authority has recently learned that the updates will happen later, possibly for 2025. The refresh should include new exteriors, an overhauled interior, and even a new powertrain lineup.

More specifically, the refreshed Chevy Tahoe and Suburban will feature a new front fascia sporting two-tiered headlights, while the rear fascia might get new taillight clusters. Other exterior changes include available 24-inch wheels and a fin antenna on the roof.

The refreshed Chevy Tahoe and Suburban will also get a reworked cabin and some changes to the powertrain. While the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine will carry over from the 2023 model year, the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax is likely to be replaced with the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine and offer this as an option on the Z71 trim level. Both SUVs will continue to transmit power via the GM 10-speed automatic transmission, with both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive available.

As a reminder, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban are currently motivated by three powertrain choices, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine developing 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine supplying 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine cranking out 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

  1. I’ll assume the refreshed 2025 MY Suburban and Tahoe will debut later this year and production will commence next spring. The Silverado HD refresh was originally thought to have been 2023, but was instead pushed back to being revealed later in 2022 as a 2024 MY vehicle, so we might possibly see this coming with the refreshed 2025 MY Suburban and Tahoe as well.

  2. More miss fires from GM. GM top selling vehicles with the largest segment of market share seems that Marketing are make announcements prematurely. Now it looks bad not able to make a deadline and as a GM stock holder, this hurts. More proof that EV battery and vehicle development is sucking dry the investments for future vehicle development.

  3. I’m looking to get a New Suburban asap but, I want the updated panoramic dash like the Silverado’s have. Hopefully this will happen for the 24 Model year.
