Here’s How Many GMC Hummer EV Units Were Built In July 2023

Initially breaking cover in October of 2020, the first production units of the GMC Hummer EV didn’t roll off the line at the GM Factory Zero plant until 2021. Production GMC Hummer EV has slowly increased ever since, save for a brief pause between December of 2022 and January of 2023. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the latest GMC Hummer EV production figures in the following GM Authority spotlight.

A new GMC Hummer EV rolls off the line at the GM Factory Zero plant in Detroit.

According to sources familiar with the matter, a total of 2,439 GMC Hummer EV units were produced in July of 2023, bringing the total number of units produced since the start of regular production (SORP) in 2021 to 16,088. GM has built 11,058 units so far during the 2023 calendar year (January through July). Note that these totals include both the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and the GMC Hummer EV SUV.

The 2,439 units produced figure in July of 2023 is down from June’s high of 2,750 units built and May’s 2,590 units built. June of 2023 saw the highest monthly production total for the GMC Hummer EV since the SORP in October of 2021.

Like the GMC Hummer EV, the Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV are also based on the GM BT1 platform.

Now rolling out for the 2024 model year, the GMC Hummer EV is available in a range of different trim levels and configurations, including two- and three-motor powertrains, as well as with 20- and 24-module battery packs. All GMC Hummer EV variants include GM Ultium drive motors and GM Ultium batteries.

  1. Total waste of money….

Should have developed an off-road ICE Bronco/Jeep competitor, and a street performance ICE sport truck and/or suv. But instead Mary calls for a CAI, exhaust, brakes, and badges to the Tahoe and charge $8K!!! SMFH

  2. Exactly how many Raptor R’s has Ford produced?

Ram has already announced a Final Edition for the TRX. That sure didn’t last long.

  3. Good to see them making some in volume finally. Hopefully they have the Ultium issues figured out.

Totally agree. I will feel relaxed when I see the Cadillac Lyriq in high volumes.

    2. So 18,000 produced, around 1000 units sold, and ~500 in dealer inventory…. The numbers aren’t adding up.

      1. That’s what I’m wondering. These numbers for 2023 just don’t make sense. Are there about 10,000 of these sitting in a parking lot near Factory ZERO waiting for batteries? And they are calling them “produced” vehicles?

      2. All depends on who’s counting.

  4. is this HUmmer ev truck or suv?

    1. The article says both.

‘Note that these totals include both the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and the GMC Hummer EV SUV.’

  5. Just a total waste of the resources that could be going to more important vehicles. That is if GM actually cared about the climate change problem instead of how many of the Kardashians or stupid YouTube morons they can get behind the wheel of these fat pigs.

  6. Hopefully the new V8 in the ‘25/26 Silverado is bulletproof and good specs. Should be a hybrid, but it won’t. 2.7 should be hybridized, but it won’t.

EV trucks DO NOT make sense

    1. Why not? I have a Hummer on order to replace my AT4. my commute is 20 miles one way. I spend about $400 a month on gas. Charging the hummer will cost me about $100 a month. Nearly 0 maintenance, faster and more maneuverable. I occasionally tow a dump trailer for stone/topsoil, its about a 10 mile round trip. Makes sense to me.

      1. Because everyone needs a 9000 lb $100,000 EV to make a 40 mile round trip everyday…

        1. as opposed to an $85k 7000lb gas powered truck?

          1. Well I think we see who’s actually buying these things, whether they are needed or apparently not.

          2. The average Silverado MSRP is $56,500 not $85k, you must be in Crazyfornia.

            1. No one in the market for a hummer is buying a peasant level trimmed Silverado.

        2. That’s funny (not)…how is it NOT Okay to spend one’s hard earned money as THEY see fit???

  7. I bet they would be building three ti.imes as many if they had an ICE or Hybrid powetrain.

  9. Does GM have model years associated with this vehicle? It seems as though some people will get their 2022 model in 2028 at this rate.

  10. Hav’nt seen one of these in the Bay Area, known for EV following…only place we saw one
was in the BARBIE movie, but I don’t think “it was real” (haha)
