GM Design Team Reveals Buick Wildcat EV Project Presentation: Video

General Motors unveiled the Buick Wildcat EV concept in June of 2022, showing off the Tri-Shield brand’s latest design language and branding efforts. The new Buick Wildcat EV is a stunner, to be sure, and definitely worthy of our attention. Now, the GM Design team is sharing the original Buick Wildcat EV project presentation on social media, giving us a look at the original styling that green-lit the project in the first place.

Coming to us from the official GM Design Instagram feed (@generalmotorsdesign), the video includes a series of animations that feature the Buick Wildcat EV in the early stages of its development.

“We promised you we’d show you behind-the-scenes looks at our projects and this is our favorite one yet,” the post caption reads. “When the Buick studio was developing the Wildcat show car, the studios created this animation to pitch the project to our leadership.”

The vehicle featured in this short video is a bit different than the final Buick Wildcat EV show car that debuted in 2022. For starters, the vehicle in the animation is orange, rather than silver, while the wheels are different as well. Both the front and rear end were also significantly reshaped.

Also notable is the Tri-Shield Buick logo, which got reworked in conjunction with the debut of the Buick Wildcat EV. The animation shows an early design for the new logo, and it looks a little different than the final product.

The video opens with a city skyline, specifically New York at night. We’re then transported to a garage filled with Buick vehicles, all of which have their headlights on. A figure is seen walking towards a garage door, with the headlights turning off as they pass. When the garage door opens, we see the early Buick Wildcat EV design. The figure then climbs behind the wheel and takes the low-slung concept for a drive.

  2. Like Avists better as well as leaked concept on Ultium 2. Buick stayed in line with joint Buick/Opel work on progress with Wildcat sharing looks with Opel GT concept. Even now, both design languages go by “Pure” which was decided pre sale.
Very curious to see what a 4 door Avista flag ship would have looked like. Could have easily beein turned into “sport back” without external visual changes.

  3. I like Buick’s use of the Wildcat Concept design to inspire the Envista. Now let’s see if they can take it a step further to create a Wildcat inspired Envision Sportsback with a 2.0 IL4 Turbo.

So then why aren’t the concepts all CUVs?
