Osprey Custom Cars recently announced that it is now offering this fully custom 1986 Land Rover Defender 130 Hi-Capacity Pickup for sale, giving customers a chance to rule the road and the trail with classic British styling and modern mechanicals. When it comes to the greasy bits, this Land Rover Defender now cradles the same V8 engine that motivates the sixth-generation Chevy Corvette. The goodies continue with full off-road-spec underpinnings and a slick cabin space.
Let’s start with the powerplant. Lift the hood, and you’ll find the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LS3 gasoline engine, which can also be found under the hood of the 2008 through 2013 Chevy Corvette, 2009 through 2015 Chevy Camaro, and 2015 through 2017 Chevy SS. Squeezed into this 1986 Land Rover Defender 130 Hi-Capacity Pickup, the V8 is rated at 430 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque.
The V8 connects to the 6L80E six-speed automatic transmission with a PCS push-button gear selector and LED display. There’s also a heavy-duty LT230 transfer case and center differential lock to put the power where it’s needed, driving upgraded, heavy-duty front and rear axles. Four-wheel disc brakes throw the anchor, while an aluminum skid plate protects some of the vital bits.
As for the suspension, this Land Rover Defender restomod is equipped with Fox Racing 2.0 shocks and springs, with Terrafirma caster-corrected front and cranked rear radius arms, track rod, drag link, and a Terrafirma steering damper. The whole thing rides gloss black 18-inch Sawtooth wheels shod in 275/70R18 Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires.
As for the body, the rig is finished in Santorini Black Metallic paint with color-matched wheel arches and trim, complemented by black anodized aluminum exterior door handles. LED lighting is used to illuminate the way forward.
Final touches include a twin-panel moonroof, piano black center dash, Alpine infotainment, Bluetooth streaming, Apple CarPlay, and black leather upholstery.
Interested customers are encouraged to contact Osprey Custom Cars directly for more information.
