Chevy Silverado 1500, Blazer, Trailblazer and Trax Get Extended Evaporative Emission Purge Pump Warranty

Due to the potential of failure, General Motors has issued an extended evaporative emission purge pump warranty period for certain units of the Chevy Silverado 1500, Chevy Blazer, Chevy Trailblazer and Chevy Trax.

Certain units of the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500, 2020 Chevy Blazer, 2021 Chevy Trailblazer and 2021 Chevy Trax may have a condition where the evaporative emission purge pump could fail. If this were to occur, affected units could trip the Malfunction Indicator Light – or the Check Engine Light – and set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).

As a result, General Motors will extend the warranty coverage on affected vehicles from two years or 24,000 miles (whichever comes first) to a period of 15 years or 150,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the date the vehicle was originally placed into service. Notably, California vehicles have a standard warranty period of three years or 50,000 miles (whichever comes first).

It’s worth noting that owners who paid for the repair service themselves may be eligible for reimbursement. Additionally, if the evaporative emission purge pump were to fail, GM certified technicians will replace the emissions equipment as necessary, free of charge.
