Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Crashed By Joyriding Parking Valet: Video

For many, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is hugely enticing, with its supercharged V8 engine, track-ready performance, and impressive street presence combining to make for one very attractive ride. Of course, that attraction isn’t limited to just customers – valet drivers can be seduced by the charms of the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing as well. Unfortunately for one owner, that seduction led to his new super sedan getting T-boned.

PDR footage moments before this Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is T-boned.

Per a recent report from local NBC-affiliate 11Alive in Atlanta, Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing owner Joe Luck recently took his high-performance four-door to a dinner date, handing the keys over to a valet upon arriving at a restaurant in West Midtown. Unfortunately, while Luck was busy inside the restaurant, the valet decided to climb behind the wheel of the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing for a quick jaunt.

The onboard Performance Data Recorder system captured what happened next. After heading down an adjacent street, the valet decides to execute a quick U-turn on Howell Mill Road, crossing another lane and a double-yellow line to do so. As the sedan turns around, a Dodge Challenger slams into the side of the four-door.

Footage of the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing after the crash reveals extensive damage, with the driver’s side door, rear quarter panel, and side skirt all heavily impacted. The owner says that side airbags deployed on both sides of the vehicle, as was the driver’s side seat airbag. The rear drive axle was also damaged.

“It’s in pretty bad shape,” Luck told 11Alive. “I can’t even drive it.”

Luck says he was waiting to take delivery of the car for quite some time.

“Been waiting for a year and a half for it. These cars are very hard to get. Semiconductor shortages, cars have been on long wait times, and it’s a very special vehicle, but I’ve only had it for six months, only got 4,000 miles on it,” Luck said.

  1. Wow, this is like Ferris Buehler and the Ferrari. Leaving a Blackwing in a parking garage with valets? Not a good idea. Owner’s name is Luck?

  2. I’m pretty sure these things have a Valet Mode.

  4. I wonder how many other customer cars he took for a joyride before THIS happened…

  5. I’m not sure that is a CT5-V Blackwing. It looks like he de-badged it on the front but the driver’s door has the badge down low like a CT4.. ???? Or it’s a CT5-V ??? not a Blackwing.

The hood is also different or he changed it after buying the car.

    1. Upon close inspection, it is definitely a BlackWing. The front clip is correct for the BW with the standard splitter, and the front fender vent is visible later in the recording. The badge is inexplicably moved, the hood is obviously not stock, nor are the wheels. But he did mention it’s a 6-speed manual V-8 supercharged, and he obviously has the PDR.

Coincidently, this accident happened just over 2 miles south of my office! I haven’t seen the car around, and now I fear I never will. It sounds like he’s going to enter a giant cluster-f*** with the insurance company. I sure wouldn’t want that car back with that kind of damage. I wish him luck.
