Eight months after confirming the new Chevrolet compact pickup for the country, General Motors has just announced the official arrival of the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana in Mexico.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Montana officially arrives in Mexico to further strengthen the brand’s solid pickup portfolio in the country, joining the current Chevy S10 Max, Colorado, Silverado and Cheyenne that make up the largest truck offering in the automotive industry. As Chevy’s first compact unibody pickup, the 2024 Montana introduces an innovative concept that combines the functionality of a pickup and the comfort of a crossover.
“Chevrolet pickups have been characterized as legendary vehicles with great performance and quality. Therefore, we are very happy to present a totally innovative project [like the 2024 Montana],” said Chevrolet Marketing Manager at GM Mexico, Wilberto del Ángel. “The new Montana was designed for the current needs of our customers with a new proposal that also promises to become a benchmark in the compact pickup segment,” he added.
Most notably, the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana launches in Mexico in two distinctive trim levels comprised of the immediately available LT and the sporty-looking RS to come later. Both versions come standard with a comprehensive list of technology and safety equipment, but are distinguished by the traditional bright accents of the LT model and the blacked-out finish more unique to the RS.
As in all other Latin American countries where it is offered, the 2024 Chevy Montana for Mexico is powered by a turbocharged 1.2L I3 engine that develops 132 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque – the only engine currently available in the third-generation Montana. In the two launch trim levels, it’s mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Montana is coming to the Mexican market with LT units first, available for sale in the dealer network starting this week. Meanwhile, the RS variant will arrive during the last quarter of the year. The model offers high connectivity, plenty of comfort and convenience features and a wide line of customization accessories. The new Montana arrives in Mexico imported from the GM São Caetano do Sul plant in Brazil.
Pricing for the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana in Mexico is as follows:
- 2024 Montana LT: 510,400 pesos (about $30,370 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2024 Montana RS: 574,100 pesos ($34,160 USD)

What are the dimensions of this?
Overpricing aside, IF it’s as small as it looks, why isn’t this on sale in the US? Priced on top of the new Trax, it would CRUSH the competition.
It is smaller than a Maverick and only has a 3 cylinder. It lacks many of the options Americans expect.
This truck was made for the market in South America and low income areas and would not do very good here. Much like the Colorado had to be redone before it came here as it also had many limited options and features.
Take an older Trax and add a bed and that is what you have here. Now if it were based on the new Trax that just came out it would do much better.
I would recommend getting to know this truck before you ask for it here. GM would really need to make some changes to complete even with the Maverick.
“Complete?”
The 1st thing that GM needs to do is provide AWD on the new Trax and this Montana to gain market share. The only reason GM didn’t offer AWD is because they said that a majority of previous generation Trax buyers bought front wheel drive versions. That’s because dealerships ordered them w/o AWD to keep the MSRP down for the young buyers and to boost Equinox sales. If the new Trax gets a AWD option under $1500 as a stand alone option it will likely out sell the Equinox for good reason, it’s better looking.
Agreed … if they try to push $30,000+ mini trucks they will certainly fail. GM doesn’t listen … if you remember what a 1979 Chevy LUV reg/cab pickup looked like, that’s what people want, and at about a $18,000 selling price, as well as the 4 door model. I like what I see, but I also see a 4-Door LT that should be selling for about $21,000 and include things like sat/radio and fact/nav as an option. Sooner or later someone like Mahindra is going to introduce a reg cab bare bones pickup at a great price, or Hyundai will do this. Hyundai bought GM’s operational infrastructure recently … that will allow another 200 thousand+ plus vehicles yearly to be produced and begin production by around the 1st of February ’24. If I were just 15 years younger I’d offer Hyundal/Kia the chance at a dealership/s in my home town.
Why did you limit yourself to having to be 10-15 years younger to get a Hyundai/Kia dealership in your home town or are you speaking about buying the franchise or a product of Hyundai ? You have peeked my interest Brad ? Are you running low on your years of driving or years in community investments for your apt to find interested partnership opportunities if you are concerned about the time commitment. Silent partnership opportunities should be available for you as well. You could try a 3 year lease that way you aren’t stuck with it If you are talking about trying a Hyundai/Kia vehicle…. Please reply Brad so I can understand what you were saying regarding 15 years….. Thank you for your time responding and clearing up my end of the confusion not your end. Just want to better understand your comment about 15 years is all.
We need this type of sub compact truck in the US. I see many Mavericks and Santa Cruz on the roads.
It looks like a winner to me.
Robert, you would pay north of $30k for this vehicle when it is smaller and less equipped than a Maverick? GM not bringing it here and if they did there aren’t enough Roberts to support it’s sales.
we still need a2 door small p/u with a longer bed not everyone needs a4 door p/u with tiny bed and a million options.
This one is based out of the new Trax (it is somewhat its sister truck). The Trax, Envista, TrailBlazer and Encore GX are 9BXX architecture and the Onix, Tracker, Montana (and likely the new Spin) are all JBXX architecture. In summary the B segment vehicles from GM Global Architecture.
But need to note that JBXX are all Emerging Market vehicles while the 9BXX are al “Mature” market vehicles.
These would be like Gamma 3 platform if you would.
Just googled in the Chevrolet Mexico website
https://www.chevrolet.com.mx/pickups/nueva-montana-camioneta-compacta
It is already there.
600kg cargo capacity = 1,320lb cargo capacity
Volume of the cargo bed 874 Liters = 231 gal
While it has a lot of goodies (WiFi, OnStar, 6 Airbags and the like) still do not understand why GM dumped the single cab version which was all it existed before.
A 2.0l would needed but clearly this route gmc should go if the really want reduce emissions etc . The colorado isn’t exactly emission friendly or MPG friendly. A lot people could use the s10 colorado with 2.0 and not have to buy canyon or Sliverado
I’ve been a Chevy fan all my life , I was waiting for THE MONTANA INFORMATION TO COME OUT ,BUT THIS IS TERRIBLE NEWS ! THE PRICE IS OUTRAGEOUS !!!!!! YOU GUST LOST A LIFE TIME CUSTOMER , IM GOING TO ORDER A 2024 FORD MAVERICK XL HYBRID $26K , WITH 40MI. CITY .
GM HAS NO CLUE WHAT AMERICA WANTS IN A TINY TRUCK IN THIS TERRIBLE , OVER PRICED ECONOMY ! TOMORROW I WILL ORDER A NEW FORD MAVERICK , I HATE FORD’S BUT THEY KNOW WHAT AMERICANS WANT ! I GOT RID OF MY 2021 COLORADO IT WAS TO EXPERIENCE, AND M.P.G. WAS ONLY 21 CITY ! MONTANA DOESN’T EVEN OFFER A HYBRID OPTION .
Ford is the best!
This would kill hear in the US. More women would drive this as a fun around truck . Bring this to the US , your missing a great market!
Come on GM … if you make it available … we will buy it. We need fuel efficient vehicles, not another 18mpg road warrior.
It pains me, but I ordered the Maverick yesterday, after my faithful Cobalt died of a blown head gasket at 616,876 miles. Original clutch too. Now I had to go with Ford. Please don’t hate me, but all GM vehicles of the 2023-2024 are either soulless SUVs, expensive trucks that I can’t afford, my dream car, or two lines that are going away.
Had GM pulled their collective noggins out of their backside, and brought this to the states with a turbo charged 2.0 Ecotec AWD they would have had a real winner! Instead we MAY get a dull 1.3 liter fwd. I guess they don’t want to compete against the WT Colorado or Trax.
I Just saw the Truck on the 605fwy from Mexico. I thought I would buy it. I like the body style. Its like a cross between an Maverick and Santa Cruz. The mini Truck could be a thing but definitely need the right pricing. 30k is too high. GM For God Sakes.. Freaking Listen to your consumers. I own a 2019 Buick Encore that we love. Bring it the US but add more features that we in the US would love.
