General Motors just pulled the sheets on the all-new 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, showing off the first all-electric SUV to wear the iconic Escalade nameplate. Naturally, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ will draw comparisons to the ICE-powered Escalade which preceded it, so with that in mind, we’re digging into the spec sheets for the following dimensional comparison.
In this comparison, we’re taking a look at the exterior dimensions, interior dimensions, and capacities for both SUVs.
Exterior
With regard to the exterior styling, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ looks significantly more streamlined and rounded than the blockier, more-square ICE-powered Cadillac Escalade. Interestingly, when it comes to exterior dimensions, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is quite a bit larger than its ICE-powered equivalent, measuring in with an extra 15.2 inches of wheelbase, an extra 12.4 inches of overall length, and an extra 4.2 inches of overall width. Notably, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ wheelbase is even a bit longer than that of the ICE-powered Cadillac Escalade ESV.

Interior
Moving inside, we find the larger exterior dimensions of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ do not translate into greater passenger room across the board. While the all-electric Escalade offers a bit more front headroom, front legroom, and second-row headroom, the ICE-powered Escalade offers more front shoulder room, front hip room, second-row legroom, second-row shoulder room, and second-row hip room. The ICE-powered Escalade also offers considerably more space in the third row, including an extra 4.8 inches of legroom and a whopping 6.2 inches of shoulder room.

Capacities
Finally, we come to the capacities, where interestingly, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is once again down on dimensions compared to the ICE-powered Escalade, with the latter offering an extra 1.8 cubic feet behind the first row, an extra 3.8 cubic feet behind the second row, and an extra 1.8 cubic feet behind the third row. The ICE-powered Escalade also offers an extra 200 pounds of max towing capacity. That all said, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ does have one unique feature when it comes to storage, namely the 12.2-cubic-foot eTrunk.

More bloated growth when it’s not at all necessary. Symptomatic of EVERYTHING being put out these days. Time for a rethink?
With Respect To (WRT) Cadillac’s Escalade IQ, it is good that the EV range of 450 miles finally matches the capability of my 2004 Impala LS. It may be that I have missed it, but where do I find the curb weight? I would prefer to use my 2.5-ton Walker floor jack and GM Goodwrench jack-stands to do a simple tire rotation. Looking on the bright side, my farm does have a 10-ton Blackhawk long-frame jack and 10-ton jack-stands that can be employed if necessary. Cheers!
This is going to weigh 9000+ pounds. A loaded 2023 Escalade weighs 5300 pounds. Instead of posting 0 to 60, with something that almost requires a CDL license (10,000 lbs), they should really talk about the 70-0 braking distance.
If you see one of these behind you, it might be best to let it instead roll over the car in front of you by getting out of its way. Also, how many more parking garages are going to be destroyed by the excessive weight of these electric behemoths?
Interestingly the Hummer actually stops faster than a Raptor.
Steak: Wouldn’t that be kind of like saying someone who is 350 lbs isn’t fat because there are others who are 400 lbs?
The greed, gluttony and need to be the center of attraction is taking this country over. This and the Hummers are NOT about being green. They are NOT about doing what’s best for the climate issues we are all facing. These are fat pigs that do nothing more than stroke the ego of the rich or those who may not really be rich but can attain the vehicle through creative financing. They are about being seen. Guess what? Trucks like the Raptor are just the ICE version of these.
Just more huge oversized American nonsense. GM had an opportunity to reduce the size externally, while providing the same interior volume. Just what the world needs, another huge, road clogging, ‘mine is bigger’ vehicle. Aren’t we supposed to be working to use less raw materials?
Overall, I rather like it…. No mention of precisely what the $130,000 entry price includes…. I wish they would include a more stripped version such as a somewhat smaller screen, and a 2wd model with less than 750 hp. I do like the 200 kwh , 450 mile range. I regularly get 50-60 miles more than the rated 312 miles of my 2023 LYRIQ. So this vehicle would do an easy 525 range.
So a 2wd cost reduced 400 hp model should be perfectly fine for me…. I like the less truck like, and not so much ‘in your face’ front end.
But the 5G system is a deal breaker for me….I would not order a 2024 LYRIQ for this reason.. But they will drop it only if they get push back from people besides me.
So if the Escalade is four tons and a half, 400 hp would be slow. The tour-mode 600 HP is a sweet spot for daily driving for something this big.
So my question here is will the EV sales be lumped together with the ICE numbers because they share the same name? The new EV has its own design, platform, interior, and drivetrain – it’s a completely different model than the ICE. I’ve never understood how quarterly sales numbers are calculated.
Take the old Corisca/Baretta, the 2 were basically the same car but counted separately I believe due to having different names, they would have been counted as one if they were called Corisca sedan and Corisca coupe.
If Cadillac named all it’s models Escalade with differing letter/number distinctions like Escalade3 and Escalade5 or Escalade SRT or Escalade EV — would the sales be all lumped together?
Anyone have any thoughts?
VROOM not vreem
I find that gm has ruined the unique look of its large SUV’s,Tahoe,Denali and Escalade by making the rear end look like the smaller xt4 xt5 xt6 SUV’s which by themselves look great but to take the Escalade and ruin its profile which looks like a Chevy Traverse. The front is vintage Escalade and making it ev at over 9000 lbs and reducing almost every feature in the present vehicle is ridiculous.GM is bowing to the woke of this administration to go ev and the buyers are only going to be the very well off, re:The ev Hummer.
The world is turning to EVs and America is behind! Biden is just helping the transition so we do not fall even farther back!
Respectfully GV, and if we were to follow the administration’s guidelines, the draw of electric vehicles would cripple our power grid.
Did you know that in China where all of the battery components and raw materials are readily available, electric vehicles are considered common, whereas gas powered vehicles are most desirable?
Unfortunately, they put all the extra length in the hood. Not only does this throw off the proportions, it means the much longer EV actually has less room than the ICE.
Cadillac still can’t fill the orders for Lyriqs. I’ve been waiting to officially order mine for over a year. My dealer tells me on 4th on the list but they have only been able to submit one level 3, so far. And I’m sure it will be the same for the Escalade IQ. That’s a bad business model.
The situation will improve as the new battery plants ramp up.
I’d take the ice pretty handily . The ev is not my style at all
A weight comparison between the vehicles would be nice. For some reason, I don’t see the IQ’s weight listed in Cadillac’s specs, although I understand the truck reportedly weighs 9,000 lbs.
Will there be an ESV version of the IQ in the future as well?
Just add it to the list of their previous failures.
The IQ is definitely the better looking of the two inside and out.
If you have to have an oversized overpriced vehicle to show off for your neighbors, better an EV than the ICE, I suppose.
Cadillac really knocked it out of the park with this one. That interior is beautiful!
I guess the chassis of this full sized SUV will be shared with the Tahoe and Yukon, at some point.
The width of 85 inches seems like it would be too wide to drive for tighter greater city locations. If the economy gets weak, I wonder how well a $130,000 Escalade will sell?
I am concerned for GM at this point. They need to be doing hybrid versions of the existing full sized SUV and truck lineup. They should be able to make mild hybrid versions that will get 23-25+mpg for city driving, at an affordable price point. Bringing down some meaningful fuel cost at an affordable selling price is what consumers want. A hybrid motor will also boost instant torque and HP.
Don’t think a mild hybrid will get 23-25 city but a full hybrid should give the ICE model that rating. But I never did comprehend why GM refuse to do more hybrids in the States. They are very capable to produce hybrids for all makes and models to compete and win. Look at the Volt for example.
