2024 Chevy Silverado EV Gets Destination Freight Charge Increase

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV made its formal introduction early in 2022, showing off GM’s latest all-electric propulsion technology and promising all the usual pickup truck capability expected of the nameplate. Production of the fleet-oriented Chevy Silverado EV Work Truck (WT) began this past June. Now, GM Authority has uncovered that the destination freight charge for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV WT has increased.

The DFC for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV was originally set at $1,895. Now, however, the freight charge for the all-electric pickup truck is $1,995, a $100 increase.

2024 Chevy Silverado EV Starting MSRPs
Trim Level Drivetrain 2024 MSRP + DFC
3WT 4WD $74,900
4WT 4WD $79,900

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV 3WT and 4WT are the first models off the line. Despite the Work Truck nomenclature, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV 3WT and 4WT are not the most basic equipment groups that will be offered. Notable highlights include an eight-inch Driver Information Center, an 11-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. These trucks are also equipped with a large 24-module battery pack.

Although the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV WT will be offered to retail buyers, the first examples produced will only be offered to fleet customers. The well-equipped Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition is set to begin production this coming fall, and will be available to retail customers.

As for the powertrain, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV features GM Ultium battery technology and GM Ultium Drive motors, with a dual-motor setup offering torque vectoring and e4WD grip. The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV 4WT is estimated to return upwards of 450 miles of range per charge. The GM BT1 platform provides the underpinnings across the Silverado EV lineup. All 2024 Chevy Silverado EV units are produced exclusively at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, previously known as Detroit-Hamtramck.
