For the new model year, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 introduces a select few updates, including the TurboMax engine branding and the availability of the Midnight Edition on the High Country trim level. Now, the 2024 Silverado can be ordered with a drop-in bedliner.
Offered for an extra $495, the LPO or dealer-installed drop-in bedliner (RPO code VZX) option is available on Work Truck (WT), Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss and LTZ trim levels, and includes a tailgate liner. Notably, this feature is not offered on ZR2 or High Country trims.
It’s worth noting that there are several caveats when ordering this new feature, including:
- On the Custom trim, it can’t be ordered in conjunction with the Rally Edition (STH) or the Dark Appearance Package (CWK).
- On the Custom Trail Boss trim, it can’t be ordered in conjunction with the Dark Appearance Package (CWK) or the Off-Road and Protection Package (PDZ).
- On the LT trim, it can’t be ordered in conjunction with the Protection Package (WPQ) or the Off-Road and Protection Package (PDZ).
- On the RST trim, it can’t be ordered with the Rally Edition (STH), the Dark Appearance Package (CWK), the Protection Package (WPQ) or the Off-Road and Protection Package (PDZ).
- On the LT Trail Boss trim, it can’t be ordered with the Dark Appearance Package (CWK), the Midnight Edition (WJP) or the Protection Package (WPQ).
- On the LTZ trim, it can’t be ordered with the Off-Road and Protection Package (PDZ).
For our sharp-eyed readers out there wondering, doesn’t General Motors already offer a bedliner option for the Silverado 1500? Well, you would be correct, as the Silverado 1500 is available with the slightly more-expensive Chevytec spray-on bedliner (CGN) that costs $545. This option is equipped as standard fare on the ZR2 and High Country, which is why the drop-in bedliner isn’t offered on these two trim levels.
As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 is available with a wide range of powerplants, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
In regard to structure, the Silverado rides on the GM T1 platform, while production of the 2024 model year kicked off in July 2023. The light-duty Silverado is manufactured at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada, and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

Stay away from these, get a spray in. Aftermarket ones used to cost a couple hundred and dealers would throw them in used trucks with a beat up box. They wear the paint away and then the box rusts.
Spray in is the only way to go. If you have a color issue, just spray the liner with a can of SEM and it will look like new again.
Thought we left these in the 90s?
They used to sit on the box rails and ruin the paint. Now they fit under rails but junk still gets underneath plugging drain holes.
Everything slides too much. I like a rubber mat. Dura-liner makes hard sides and rubber mat kit. Never had one but think they cost $500?
