Critically, pricing for the 2024 Chevy Express has increased significantly over that of the 2023 model year. Every trim level and configuration is now more expensive, with the pricing increase varying between $1,600 and $2,900, depending on the model. Most of the pricing increases are in the upper part of that range, around $2,700 to $2,900.

Two engine options are available for the 2024 Chevy Express, with the atmospheric 4.3L V6 LV1 gasoline engine rated at 276 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 298 pound-feet of torque at 3,900 rpm, and the atmospheric 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine rated at 401 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 464 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. As GM Authority was the first to report, the 2024 Chevy Express introduces two new transmissions to the lineup, with the 4.3L V6 LV1 now mating to the MTH GM eight-speed automatic transmission, rather than the M5U GM eight-speed automatic transmission, and the 6.6L V8 L8T now mating to the N8X GM eight-speed automatic transmission, rather than the MYD GM six-speed automatic transmission.

Production of the 2024 Chevy Express will kick off early next month.

  1. Raise prices but can’t even use the 10 speed instead of two versions of the crap 8 speed.

    1. What was wrong with the 6T90?

Last thing any fleet wants is another round of debugging.

    2. GM is smart. If the Ford econoline came back tomorrow, nobody would buy the transit, and GM would drop the price on there van’s 10 grand. GM don’t have to discount , people and company’s are buying .

  2. and now you know why they cancelled the 2024 updates. milking it.

so a basic 12k work van thats been around for 20 years unchanged is now msrp close to 50k.. yeah no wonder my hvac company charges 300$ just to come out to me…..

    1. People think it is easy making money off of selling vehicles. gm is still paying off the tooling on these vans.

      1. The reality is that the Express/Savana platform is about as simple and easy to work on than any other vehicle available today.

It remains today as one of the few vehicles that can have many repair and maintenance procedures completed in shops that have limited tooling, or even on the home driveway. In general, it is a “tinkerer’s delight”.

I worked on them when the NG van was introduced in 1996 and they were pure simplicity, whether in van body or cab and chassis form. 1996 was the dawn of OBD2 and for 2008 MY vehicles, they were mandated to have High Speed CAN.

It seems that no one is ever satisfied. When the G van platform goes EV as it surely will, everyone will want the old van back, shouting out “why did they quit making them?!”

        1. The price of good used Chevy work vans are going up and up. Most are being repainted and being sold for half of what they were sold for new.

      2. The tooling for this van was installed in 1995. It has been paid for years ago. They are raking in the cash on this vehicle. They can build it for many years to come here at Wentzville Assembly…. Sincerely a GM employee

    2. Those prices for an ancient vehicle that is a pretty basic one, are OUTRAGEOUS. No idea if they’re competitive, but boy do we need Great Recession 2 NOW to get this market/economy back to a sense of reality because we’ve gone WAY off course.

      1. Replace “recession” with “depression.”

This world sorely needs the fakes, zombies, speculators, and current politicians completely wiped out. Rather it happen now, to me, so that my kid can be part of the rebuilding and won’t remember the pain.

  3. To be honest, the 2.7 could really replace both of these engines. The competition uses small engines, fleets want good fuel economy, and they are determined to keep the 8 speed in the vans, which is also the only transmission the 2.7 uses. I’m sure they will switch to the 2.7 soon enough, they are probably just making sure production is right for the Colorado/Canyon first. The 2.7 has more hp, torque, and the same fuel economy as the 4.3. It has less hp, similar torque, and better fuel economy than the 6.6. V8s are no longer needed in vans, they are more about payload than towing anyway.

  4. When is the last time any other GM vehicle used that radio? 2006? Wow, that interior is like a time warp!

For those wondering about how GM sells these ancient vans at these prices, all you need to do is check the prices of the competition. It is a least 20% more for a comparable Ford Transit. For fleet operators, it is difficult to justify that big of a price premium for a mass transit or work vehicle. Considering the beatings these type of vehicles take, the most important things are price, durability and inexpensive maintenance.

  5. arent the prices mis prints ?? 40 year old vans at $15k is more like it

  6. These also had massive increases the previous year with 4-5K jumps in price. GM knows it has the market cornered on these types of vans and knows other types of competitors are even more expensive so has no trouble raising prices on these to make up for losing money on many of their EV’s. This is an ancient design and that interior is very 2005 so these are making plenty of profits.

  7. GM is over charging for shipping. Almost $2,000 for shipping is a big slap in the face. When you are shipping at a huge volume, you have to be able to ship at a lower cost. I can have my car ship from Michigan across the country for less than $1,000, and that is one single automobile shipping fee.

  8. I called on 1 available recently . They asked me what my FLEET NUMBER is. I told them I don’t have a fleet number. I was informed that unless i was buying 50 or more or have purchased 50 vehicles within the last year they could not sell to me. So these prices are only relevant if you are a multi millionaire dollar company, not like us simple millionaire contractors like me ! GREEDY MF’rs.

  9. GM is making bank on this nearly 30 year old model. Prices are high but competitive. They have lost market share to competition with newer models with ergonomic advantages like interior height.

  10. Some fleets have thousands of these. They have huge investments in parts, tools, and trained mechanics . They don’t put emphasis on appearance but rather uptime and low maintenance. U-Haul is a great example. Also commercial prices are ruthlessly negotiated for hundreds at a time.

  11. Not that this vehicle’s market demands it, but you’d think they could have given it at least some cosmetic update in and out. Literally hasn’t changed one bit in twenty years.

  12. My worst nightmare. They would price it equally with the updated versions of RAM and Ford. Now I’m forced to consider these two options instead. The GMC or Savanna cannot be priced equally since it has not been updated. The other choice is just to keep my Diesel truck since it runs wheely good, anyway.

  13. question. is it worth it, cost effective , to have rebuilt a ford econoline or old chevy express? Would the vehicle be reliable?

  14. If the 4.3 motor were replaced by the smaller 2.7 liter motor maybe the drivers seat could be repositioned to a more comfortable place away from the door. with a few changes the express would be a comfortable daily driver, long distance cruiser camper vehicle, motel room.
