Roof rack cross rails (RPO code VLL) are currently unavailable to order on the 2024 Buick Encore GX, GM Authority has learned, and it’s unclear when the cargo system mounting rails will be available again.
This feature is normally an LPO or dealer-installed option for the 2024 Buick Encore GX, with dealership personnel attaching the roof rack cross rails before delivery rather than the vehicle shipping from the factory with the rails already equipped.
As a result of the constraint on the rails, the Road Trip Package (RPO code PDA) is also unavailable to order for the 2024 Buick Encore GX, since the roof rack cross rails are part of the package. The Road Trip Package also contains the All-weather floor liners (RPO code RIA), another LPO element.
Normally, the roof rack cross rails are priced at $395 as a standalone option for the 2024 Buick Encore GX. The Road Trip Package, which is another LPO or dealer-installed choice, ordinarily costs $595.
The roof rack cross rails are designed to support a range of different rooftop cargo accessories on the 2024 Buick Encore GX. These include cargo carriers, bicycle racks, luggage carriers, kayak carriers, roof bags, steel rooftop baskets, and similar pieces of equipment.
The 2024 Buick Encore GX debuts a new trim level exclusively reported by GM Authority, the Avenir, as well as a mid-cycle refresh for the nameplate’s second generation. Styling cues from the Buick Wildcat EV concept are visible in the vehicle’s front end design, including a two-tier lighting setup with checkmark upper lighting signatures. GM offers eight paint colors for the Encore GX, including three that are new for 2024.
The cabin is also updated and the Avenir gets some deluxe interior details such as leather seats, an 8-way power driver seat, a heated steering wheel, and an air ionizer. The Buick Virtual Cockpit System is equipped and operates through an 11-inch infotainment screen and an 8-inch configurable driver cluster screen.
Motivation is provided as standard to the 2024 Buick Encore GX by the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, which develops peak output of 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Also available is the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine rated at 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The Encore GX is built in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.
Under the skin, the GM VSS-F platform provides structure for the vehicle, while production of the Encore GX takes place at GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea.

This supply unavailability is so long in the tooth that most now find it a hoax, just to sell more for a LOT more, with less. And an Avenir on this and the Envista screams a high on something management. Absurd. Hope they sell none.
People love their creature comforts. This is the auto industry’s version of indoctrinating. They keep adding more and more luxuries to cars and get people used to them. Then people want more and start to think they can’t live without those little features, and anything less is a “downgrade”. I personally know people like this. For example, I have a friend with no kids, never carries anyone in the backseat, but insists that every car they buy have heated *rear* seats…because they are a “thing” and anything less is a downgrade. They also want the “fanciest” factory wheels available, even if it means paying for the factory accessory wheels from the parts catalog, Then they inevitably complain about the cost to replace tires or a harsh ride. So they only look at the highest trim level, and if they can’t get the highest trim level in the color they want, with the wheels they want, from their preferred dealer, they are absolutely miserable. Rinse and repeat every 5-6 years.
Buick will sell every Avenir trim they can make because people want to feel like they are getting everything the car has to offer plus stuff they never thought they might need but now have [just in case]. It’s a win for GM.
