Following its introduction for the 2023 model year, the next-gen GMC Canyon is a stark departure from the outgoing 2022 Canyon, and sports an overhauled exterior, interior and powertrain lineup. While GM Authority photographers have captured several Canyon units testing out on public roads, we recently got up-close-and-personal with a 2023 GMC Canyon Denali unit, and today, we’re diving in with the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.
Sporting an Onyx Black (color code GBA) paint color, this Denali unit includes all sorts of luxurious upgrades over the rest of the Canyon lineup, which can be seen inside and out. Right off the bat, we can see that this midsize pickup features dual-tier front lighting with C-shaped DRLs, along with a Denali-specific front grille that allows this Canyon to stand out from the rest of the lineup.
Moving around to the side, we can easily spot the Denali’s exclusive 20-inch Diamond Cut Dark Grey Aluminum wheels, as well as the chrome running boards, chrome doors handles, and chrome mirror caps.
Out back, it’s mostly standard Canyon affair, which includes a single exhaust exit, a tow hitch, CornerStep rear bumper, and LED taillights.
It’s worth noting that all Canyon trim levels, including this Denali, feature the same tall and wide stance found on the Colorado Trail Boss and Colorado ZR2. In fact, only the Work Truck (WT), LT and Z71 Colorado trims sport the narrower body.
Under the hood, all Canyon models feature the same powerplant, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine in the top High-Output tune, which is rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed to all four wheels via the revised GM eight-speed automatic transmission.
As for structure, the all-new Canyon rides on the updated version of the GM GMT 31XX platform, known internally as the 31XX-2. Production of the 2023 model kicked off in January 2023 at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

Why does this one get the wider stance than trail boss ? I would never take this on off road . The trail boss meant for that . I don’t get it their design choices at all for certain trims.
Why would anyone want to buy a Canyon with leather seats for $55k when they can get a more capable Silverado or Sierra? The prices on these midsize trucks are out of control. My V8 Sierra was $60k.
More to do with fitting it in garage and takes less room and slightly for more affordable but yes these prices are little much
I hate full size trucks. can’t park them, don’t fit in garages, can’t maneuver them. unless you have a specific commercial need for them I really don’t get the allure.
You can’t get all the options this has in it for the same price on a full Size Sierra. If you only going to tow or haul once in a while this is a better option and if you want some luxury and options.
I don’t understand why they put the old gear slider shifter in these. In every other new vehicle GMC has either put a pull button switch like the Yukon or the electronic gear shift like the Sierra. Doesn’t really match the theme of the truck in my opinion small detail of course, could have saved some space too.
