2023 Chevy Colorado Headlamps Have Two Different Easter Eggs

General Motors unveiled the 2023 Chevy Colorado late in July of the 2022 calendar year, officially dropping the covers on an all-new third generation for the pickup. Naturally, this latest generational overhaul includes new exterior styling, and with it, a few interesting easter eggs scattered here and there. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the easter eggs hiding in the 2023 Chevy Colorado’s headlamps.

There are two specific easter eggs covered here, which differ based on the type of lighting system that is equipped. The first can be found in the 2023 Chevy Colorado’s halogen lights, which are equipped as standard on Colorado WT, LT, and Trail Boss trim levels. Inside the halogen headlight housings, we find the Chevrolet script spelled out in all-capital letters, followed by the Chevy Bow tie embossed in line with the script.

The 2023 Chevy Colorado is also offered with LED headlamps, which are equipped as standard on Colorado Z71 and ZR2 trim levels, and offered as optional for the LT. These headlamps don’t include the Chevrolet script like the halogen units, but do include the Chevy Bow tie embossed inside the housing.

In addition to a revised exterior, the 2023 Chevy Colorado also introduces a completely overhauled cabin space, and a new powertrain to boot. With regard to the cabin, the standard spec includes an 11.3-inch diagonal color infotainment screen and eight-inch diagonal digital color instrument display, both of which are customizable.

As for the greasy bits under the hood, the 2023 Chevy Colorado offers three engine options, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine, the Turbo Plus 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, and the Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine. As GM Authority was the first to report, the 2024 Chevy Colorado will drop the mid-range Turbo Plus 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, leaving the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine and Turbo High-Output 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine as the only remaining engine options, the latter of which will be rebranded as TurboMax.

As a reminder, the third-gen Chevy Colorado rides on the updated 31XX-2 platform, with production taking place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

  1. Easter egg, that’s as close as GM will ever come to building a Jeep rival.

    2. The worst riding, handling, performing and noisy vehicle I ever drove was a brand new Jeep rubicon! I sure hope GM doesn’t want to try and be anything like that terrible Jeep.

  2. Well, I don’t worry about the headlights that much, I just have figuring out how GM and all the others come up with there prices on various vehicles. I less visiting a local dealer the other day and they had a new GMC CANYON DENALI on the lot. Now I understand about new designs and engines and the like. But I remember in this particular case, of what we paid for a 2016 crewcab and chassis dually that cost 67,000 with the Duramax. We pulled a 30’ stock trailer all over the lower 48, loaded and unloaded. Now they have this mid-size truck, crewcab, shortbed 4×4 with a 2.7 turbo and it’s got a 60,000 sticker. Sure it’s bigger, better looking than ever, more powerful than ever, but at the same time, it is rated almost identical to a full-size with the big V-8 in similar configuration, gets about the same mileage. Maybe it can tow about what they say it will, but don’t expect it to get anywhere close to 21 mpg, will be lucky it can get 14 or 15. Meanwhile the 2016 Duramax could achieve with a loaded trailer driving 600 miles a day or 18-20 mpg just driving the truck itself.

    1. Colorado/canyon forum has people saying they are getting better than what stickers say regarding mpg. So the sticker numbers seem to lower than what the real world drivers are getting.

  3. Easter egg? That’s really pretty weak, Gummint Motors is really working the limits of their design department now! My 10 year old Volkswagen had a better Easter egg in the headlights than that with the VW logo cut into the front of the little reflector ahead of the light bulb. It’s all a money grab, GM should actually concentrate on making features that really matter.

    1. Your VW like all of them are ugly and have serious intake valve issues. VW is not even in the same league as gm. VW has and always be a terrible car.

      1. Thank God they’re not in the same league. My last GM was my ’07 Silverado 2500HD, emphasis on ‘last’. I had an ’03 and it was a POS, figured ‘things happen’, the ’07 was worse. Got a Ford Super Duty 250 and it makes Chevy and GMC seem like a joke. VW is my go-to car and Ford for work trucks. I have a ’70 Corvette with an L46 350/350 with a 4 speed and a ’70 C20 with a 396 and a 4 speed with a granny gear. Yes there was a day when GM made great cars and trucks…

      2. When I think of VW, I think of electrical issues. VW is garbage.

        1. I’m just going by the garbage GM makes, two brand new Chevy Silverado 2500HD trucks in a row, ’03 then an ’07, the only good thing about them was their engines… Rust through, dashboard assemblies, clutch slave cylinders, rusted brake lines, upper control arms, leaking rear axle seals, front hub assemblies, brake rotors rusting so badly they needed replacing every 18 months… Let’s just call it what it is, GM is way out of their league when compared to ANY other make, wait, they might be a little more reliable than Maserati…
