If you own a Chevy Silverado HD or GMC Sierra HD equipped with the naturally aspirated GM 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine and you simply need more torque, Whipple has a solution. The aftermarket performance company recently announced that it is now taking orders for its new supercharger kit designed for heavy-duty GM trucks produced between the 2020 and 2022 model years. Properly installed, the kit ups the ante with an impressive 700 pound-feet of torque.
For those readers who may be unaware, the Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD pickups are both offered with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 464 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm in stock guise. As such, a rating of 700 pound-feet of torque with the new Whipple supercharger equates to gains of 236 pound-feet over the factory configuration.
The new supercharger kit for the GM 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine features Whipple’s fifth-generation twin-screw design, a 112 mm front feed inlet, a cast-aluminum high-flow intake manifold, high-flow water system, and billet idler plate and adjustable idler system. The charge air is kept cool thanks to an air-to-water bar-and-plate intercooler, which includes billet 6061-T6 tanks and super high-density fins.
Whipple claims the setup drains less than one horsepower of power while cruising, which means fuel economy shouldn’t be drastically affected, depending on how you drive. What’s more, the system includes a dual-pass heat exchanger, providing “incredible recovery time and consistent cool temps” while daily driving or towing.
The kit also offers the HP Tuner RDT flash tool and VCM scanner for data logging and a tire / axle adjustment. The supercharger looks good as well, sitting on top the GM 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine in a number of available finishes.
Critically, this kit is emissions-legal in all 50 states, and includes CARB Executive Order #D-231-79. Pricing starts at $7,495, per Whipple’s website. The PCM upgrade and RDT tool tacks an additional $1,000 to the price tag.

Will this fit a Bolt EUV??
Asking for a friend.
Yes, direct bolt on. Your friend will love it
I saw a Chevette with a 572, so yes anything can be hot rodded
Need One in my GS VETTE 2011
Make one for 3.6L V6 please! That 1HP of loss is extremely impressive. An excellent article too Mr. Lopez.
Screws are insanely efficient. Would been nice if chevys response to the ecoboost would have been a blown 4.3. Would also be nice if the gen6 small block is a miller cycle engine.
I wonder how long a stock 6L90 will last behind 700lbft? Guessing not long.
It does sound like a blast though. Unfortunately $8,500 for the SC & software plus who know how much for a transmission upgrade puts you well into Duramax territory but still down ~200lbft. Not very cost effective for a purely tow worthy upgrade. Should make for a fun hotrod though.
What a sweet boat motor that combo would make.
Do you have any thing for a 3.4 v6 for my Camaro
You’ll need a transmission adjustment ! Or else…
Thats what the reflash ECU is for.
FYI, the 6L90 is rated to over 650 ftbls of torque sonthe transmission can handle it.
Wonder if this could be used on the old 403 6.6 with some modifications or new intake manifold
do you have a Supercharger for the new silverado 2024 hd 6.6l gas with allison transmission thanks
They do not… Yet. I reached out again last month and was told not ready yet.
