Back in April 2023, we brought you a 1972 Chevy Chevelle that’s currently up for grabs in a sweepstakes event. Well, your chance to win this iconic piece of classic American muscle is almost up, so be sure to enter now if you want this second-generation Chevelle parked in your driveway!
With only 33,000 original miles showing on the odometer, this pristine example of classic American steel will be given away later this year as part of a sweepstakes. Winners will also receive $17,000 to cover taxes.
Get your sweepstakes tickets here.
The sweepstakes is hosted by New Beginning Children’s Homes, which is offering this 1972 Chevy Chevelle SS as a prize in a new fundraising effort facilitated through Dream Giveaway. New Beginning Children’s Homes is a 501(c)(3) non-profit offering long-term residential care to foster children, providing kids in need with a safe, family atmosphere in which to grow, heal, and be loved. New Beginning Children’s Homes is the sole and exclusive sponsor and administrator for this Chevy Chevelle SS sweepstakes.
Included with this 1972 Chevelle SS is the original factory assembly-line broadcast sheet, which is still legible after 50 years. Of course, as an all-original vehicle, all the goodies listed on the build sheet are still present on the muscle car. In fact, one of the coolest features on this Chevelle is the iconic LS3 402ci Big Block gasoline engine, which isn’t to be confused with the fourth-generation 6.2L LS3.
Additional features include the striking Flame Orange paint job, vinyl rooftop, 12-bolt Positraction rear axle, 3.37 rear gears, power steering, and power brakes with front disc brakes.
Now, this iconic 1972 Chevy Chevelle SS can be yours. Every donation made to New Beginning Children’s homes through this sweepstakes will grant a chance to win, but GM Authority readers can use promo code GM0723V for bonus tickets. The content ends on July 25th, 2023, so don’t wait around.

I bought a new 1972 Malibu when I got home from Vietnam in July of ’72. I wanted a Camero but I was told the plant was on strike and there wasn’t any stock. I believe the SS was $4500 and for the 350 I paid $3200.
I buy tickets from this organization every time they feature a 70 – 72 Chevelle SS. I have owned 6 Chevelles from 64 – 72 models, two SS models with the D88 (70 & 72) stripes. I know the stripes were painted on and the stencils varied from plant to plant. This is advertised as a 33K original car, but I wonder if it has had a repaint as the stripes appear to be too rounded at the ends, too short & too narrow. What do you think? I’ll still gladly take it if I win!
So would that 402 CI be the original stock motor?
Yes on the stock motor. Some confusion on the LS3 big block in 1971 & 1972 models. Some times referred to as a Turbojet 400. Check out the build sheet at the website as it is listed both ways. The 396 was bored out to a 402 to pass EPA regs in mid 1969. Still advertised as a SS 396 in the 1970 model. Compression dropped for 1971 model year and just SS emblems on all 71 & 72 models except SS 454. Probably fewer LS3 big blocks built in 1971 & 1972 models than the 454. No longer advertised at all. You could even get the LS3 in a 71 or 72 Chevelle Heavy Chevy. A 71 or 72 SS could be had with any V8 except the 307. Times had changed as EPA rules , coming unleaded gasoline, and high insurance premiums were killing the Golden Age of Muscle.
