More than a year after the world debut of Chevrolet’s performance-focused subcompact crossover in the country, General Motors has just officially launched the 2024 Chevy Tracker RS in China.
The 2024 Chevy Tracker RS launched as the second model year of the sportiest version of the Bow Tie brand’s entry-level crossover in China, which was introduced with a unique powertrain configuration for the Chinese market as the first performance small crossover in Chevrolet history. To increase its appeal with customers, the 2024 Tracker RS adds some exterior and equipment enhancements that will help it stand out in its class.
It’s worth noting that the RS became the standard and only varant of the Tracker currently available in China, where none of the initial variants with the more modest powertrain are offered anymore. The 2024 Chevy Tracker RS maintains the Cool, Pro and Max trims that come standard with the turbocharged 1.5L I-4 engine that develops 181 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission.
Cosmetically, the only new thing about the 2024 Chevy Tracker RS is the introduction of a new yellow hue called Light Gold, meaning there and now seven exterior color options. As such, the crossover’s design remains unchanged with its distinctive sporty cues comprised of a three-dimensional mesh-pattern grille, gloss black aerodynamic moldings and 17-inch two-tone wheels.
Inside, the 2024 Chevy Tracker adds wireless cell phone projection and charging functionality that enhances practicality and convenience, while rounding out the most comprehensive technology and connectivity package in its segment. The Tracker RS for the Chinese market stands out for including a central dual-screen module with two 10.25-inch panels, one for the infotainment system screen and the other for the digital driver instrument cluster.
The newly released 2024 Chevy Tracker RS is now available from the brand’s official dealer network in China, where the model is built locally for the domestic market of that country. The 2024 Tracker RS comes standard with extensive safety equipment, including multiple driving assist systems, as well as a market-leading 8-year/160,000 km (99,420-mile) warranty on major powertrain components. Here is the pricing breakdown:
- 2024 Tracker RS Cool: 109,900 yuan (about $15,320 USD at current the exchange rate)
- 2024 Tracker RS Pro: 123,900 yuan ($17,270 USD)
- 2024 Tracker RS Max: 128,900 yuan ($17,960 USD)

*1.5T (which gets 20% better MPG than the pathetic 3 cylinder US model)
*8 year/160,000 km powertrain warranty.
How is it that China gets a vehicle with more content and a better motor than the Trax and it’s $6,000 cheaper?
Could it be the cheaper cos to build? Maybe the Trax being made in South Korea is not as cost efficient as producing the vehicle in China. Or are both vehicles made in South korea, that would raise the question why the price difference. Or maybe good old usa people always gets hosed by these car companies!
I wish they would bring it up to US standards and sell it here.
Yea US one is better .
In Brazil we get the garbage 1.2 Turbo. The speedometer is a joke. Also, we do not have automatic adjustable seats. Thank you GM.
