Shortly after revealing the first official images of the refreshed 2024 Buick Regal in China, General Motors has just launched Buick‘s updated midsize sedan in the Asian country.
The SAIC-GM joint venture officially launched the refreshed 2024 Buick Regal on July 24th during a special event in Shanghai, introducing the second facelift of the sixth-generation Regal that adopts the Tri-Shield brand’s new design language and corporate image. The Chinest-market-exclusive sedan enters its seventh model year with a revised exterior look and improved connectivity features.
Notably, the refreshed 2024 Buick Regal is the second member of Buick’s family of sedans to adopt the latest design evolution and new logo after the all-new fourth-generation Buick LaCrosse recently launched in China. The only bodywork change is the new shark-nose front fascia and massive trapezoidal grille, which completely transforms its appearance while further accentuating the vehicle’s low stance.
The refreshed 2024 Buick Regal lineup is comprised of Premium and Enjoy trim levels. Both come standard with a comprehensive set of features and essentially share the same stylishly finished look, with differences limited to wheel design and size as well as the 25T and 28T badging on the decklid that identify powertrain options.
Mechanically, the 2024 Buick Regal continues to offer the same existing configuration consisting of the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LFV for the base Premium trim, developing 166 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, as well as the familiar turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY in the Enjoy, which produces 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission.
The refreshed 2024 Buick Regal is now available for sale at Buick’s extensive network of official dealers in China, which remains the only country where both this nameplate and the others that make up the brand’s portfolio of sedans (Excelle, Verano and LaCrosse) are manufactured and marketed. Since its local introduction in 1999, more than 1.7 million units of the Buick Regal have been sold in the Chinese market.
Here is pricing for the two 2024 Buick Regal trim levels in China:
- 2024 Regal Premium: 159,800 yuan (about $22,240 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2024 Regal Enjoy: 175,800 yuan ($24,460 USD)

Wow, $22,240 to start is cheap.
I am impress how GAIC can pull new product this quick.
Found it very expensive, paid € 7700 for my car as new 6 Km 10 years ago
The “latest design evolution and new logo” are actually horrible.
Looks like a Toyota.
Yes, that Billy Big Mouth Bass grille that Toyota debuted a few years ago. Don’t worry, be happy?
yeah, said that, very horrible but people put dislikes on me, a front of a hand vacuum cleaner
I agree, although the oversized shark grill looks better on white than it did on the 2024 Regal in red.
What’s going on? Did supplies and designers get lazy and not creative? There was a time when you go up and down a street in Detroit and when you look at a car you can tell that this car is a Pontiac or a Chrysler car,the grille, the body panels and the profile make the difference what kind of car it was.
Actually it’s very modern and bold! The younger demographic will love it. Lucky Chinese get to have all these other awesome Buick models.
Why no cars for the U.S.? Does GM really think all Americans want something that looks like a damn station wagon?
A wagon like Tour X is do much better than a CUV! Envision iisn’t bad but I’d never want either Encore or Enclave.
Regal sold poorly in the US when manufactured here for generation 1 and Germany for generation 2. They could import from China but that isn’t going to boost sales. The Regal name dated the car, it was confused with Verano and Lacrosse. Maybe Regal as the only sedan could sell well? I loved this car
USA does not need cars, needs only SUVs and PickUP, it is what of north american canadians want
I want one!
They should import the Regal over here just like they do the Envision.
And while they are doing that they can also bring over the LaCrosse. Not everybody wants a CUV.
I agree with you Ken. I prefer a sedan over a CUV or SUV.
OMG .. in every thread has one …
My guess is that if they sold these sedans here for that price, they wouldn’t have any problem selling everyone they made.
I had a 2012 Regal and loved it. It was my first of 4 Buick’s after being a Chrysler guy for 20 years. The rear of the new design looks like the older model, but the front looks Straight Outta Hyundai. They can have it. The LaCrosse looks a little better. I bought a ’23 Encore GX to avoid the “Global design” of the ’24.
Why read about it here if you can’t buy it here?
Because it’s not just Americans that read this site.
Three guys were talking about how to end food shortages in the rest of the world. The guy from the third world says what is food? The guy from Europe says what is hunger? The guy from America said what is the rest of the world?
Could they make this look any worse?
yep, see how new generation draws and you will see, since 20 years is such a crap and good schools gave up, neither the quality of students are like before, now is just fÃœcking on beach and take a beer
Frontal design looks like a cross between a Ford & a Lexus. Back looks Good. They should build them over here. Sorry not for me.
Bad is terrible also, why bumper lines does not match upper part ? Whole this car is Trash Design
If you want a GM sedan in the US you have the Cadillac CT4, the Cadillac CT5, and the Chevy Malibu.
The Caddy’s are nice but easily cost 2 or 3x what these Buicks cost so they should be…
The Malibu is GM’s Rental Car warrior.
If you don’t want a Pickup or Station Wagon you have few options at GM and practically none at Ford.
it has more, you can still buy the Chrysler 300, not with best design package anymore, but sedan still there
And the Dodge Charger: last year for both. They may be replaced by electric sedans or coupes.
right, forget this ,,, probably has more
Did GM move it’s headquarters to Beijing, thus all the good stuff gets produced over there now? I’m still waiting on the promised 2023 Lyriq EV from a year ago! Out of all this, Mary Barra is admitted to the auto hall of fame?? I can’t believe they can’t find a better CEO!
IT SEEMS A HAND VACUUM CLEANER FOR DINNER TABLE !
The thing that irks me about this horrendous design is that GM global design studios could have done so much better than this. This new Buick Regal does not look good, there is just no two ways about it.
When looking at the front of this one, what comes to mind is this:
Carp, Bluegill, catfish or other?
Bass. Definitely bass.
We need a Buick like this in the USA. Built in Flint, Michigan by real Americans like my 1977 Electra. No pissy-assed foreign tin cans with an American nameplate slapped on it in this driveway. Never will be either!! American ALL THE WAY!!
understand USA people has bad taste like any other place on planet
Yep!! At least as many people here with poor taste than anywhere else. The Chinese Buicks all look great. But Americans need jobs too! Build them here, if they’re being sold here.
Yep!! At least as many people here with poor taste than anywhere else.
It will always amaze my buy car companies how they sell upscale versions of their cars in other countries but in America they put these generic, undesired cars to dealers to sell at a upcharge of a price that repels the consumer away ..
If GM is going to sell the CT6 in China why not do the same for America and give it the best tech or even this car …??
Now I can see why the Germans, and Koreans are on top ..
America and Japan car manufacturers have to do better than just throw scraps at their cash cow America .. Not everyone in China is going to buy their cars nor buy a car ..
Shoots they got BYD, JAC, etc for that exact reason ..
Also I wish they would stop trying to build such cheap vehicles to sell.
Excellent!
