Poll: What Should Cadillac Call Its Sub-Lyriq Electric Crossover?

General Motors has been working on fleshing out its electric vehicle lineup, which is set to include a sub-Lyriq all-electric crossover. Thus far, GM has filed to trademark several potential names for this upcoming EV, including Ascendiq, Lumistiq, Optiq, and Vistiq. With various names available, we want to know, what do you think this Cadillac crossover should be named?

Thus far, details surrounding the upcoming Caddy crossover have been quite mute. However, GM Authority spy photographers recently captured what appeared to be a potential prototype version of the sub-Lyriq EV.

Front-three-quarters of a Cadillac sub-Lyriq prototype.

Although extensively covered in camouflage, there are still a few details we’re able to glean from this prototype. Up front, we can spot a large blocked-off front fascia, which features a curved shape that wraps all the way around to the front fenders. At either side of the fascia, there are a set of vertically-oriented lights, although they are obviously placeholders for the production-spec headlamps. In addition, a slim air intake of sorts can be seen below the faux grille.

Moving to the side profile, we spot a similar two-tone wheel setup that’s been spotted on earlier sub-Lyriq prototypes. Meanwhile, the sideview mirrors feature a sleek appearance, along with a very short rear overhang out back.

Finally, the rear end of this prototype features a similar design theme to that of the front fascia, which translates to another vertical lighting arrangement. Interestingly, this sub-Lyriq prototype features the same winged piece on the rear glass that we’ve seen on other prototypes.

While this prototype might provide a few clues as to what we can expect from the upcoming Caddy electric crossover, details are still few-and-far-between. So, with all this in mind, what do you think the sub-Lyriq EV should be called? Be sure to vote in the poll below, and fire off in the comments section!

  18. Well, not a big fan of the -iq naming convention, but Ascendiq seems well-suited for a model closer to the bottom of the lineup…in the same way that Aspire made sense for an entry-level Ford…lol. Sub-Lyriq could be Musiq, so sales staff could inevitably tell customers, “Let me show you the Musiq and Lyriq.”, and dealerships could give away an electric piano with each purchase.

Optiq or Vistiq will probably get the nod. They REALLY painted themselves into a corner by limiting names to anything ending in -iq. Also, having all model names where the last syllables rolling off the tip of your tongue are Cadill-ACK and something-ICK (or -EEK?) …doesn’t seem well thought out. What I wouldn’t give to have been a fly on the wall when this idea was pitched…was the -IQ suffix supposed to give some part of the target audience the notion that the so-named car was a ‘smart’ choice? Escalade IQ…’good enough’ because Escaladiq was even worse? 😛

I predict we’ll see a complete revision of names…again…in the next cycle sometime.
