No. 42 NASCAR Chevy Truck Makes Late-Race Pass To Win Richmond 2023: Video

Things didn’t look good for the No. 42 NASCAR Chevy Silverado RST of Carson Hocevar early in the Xfinity Series race at Richmond on July 29th, 2023, as the Bow Tie racer suffered a flat tire before the green flag even dropped. However, the hindrance had almost no effect on Hocevar’s performance at the end, as he guided the No. 42 Silverado from the back of the field to take the win.

Ty Majeski, driver of the No. 98 Ford F-150 racer, dominated most of the race – until pit strategy and a penalty to a competitor helped Hocevar overtake him in the No. 42 Silverado. He ultimately held Majeski’s No. 98 F-150 off by 2.308 seconds at the line, securing his third victory of the 2023 Truck Series season.

“We didn’t come here to run second,” Hocevar said after the race. “I knew we had to do something different and new tires prevailed.”

However, Hocevar admitted that the win didn’t come without trial.

“We passed every single truck here, the 98 [Ford of Majeski] was the class of the field but I thought we were second and won with the second best truck because I have the first best pit crew and first best crew chief on the box,” he said.

Corey Heim, driver of the No. 11 Toyota TRD Tundra, was crowned the regular season champion and will lead the Truck Series heading into the postseason Playoffs for the overall championship. The Truck Series Playoff field includes the following drivers, who are eligible to compete for the championship in 2023:

  1. That was one exciting Truck race! I like it when different teams have a different strategy. Will he or won’t he make it. I felt sorry for Ty Majeski. He did have the best Truck but not the best crew chief. Still looking for his first win I guess?
