Production of the current Chevy Bolt is currently in its last few months, with GM planning to discontinue the model after final units are assembled on November 7th, 2023, though a new future generation of the Bolt using third-gen GM EV tech is now confirmed.
Certain exterior paint colors will end production sooner, as only a few days currently remain to order the Ice Blue Metallic (color code G7X) tint on the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV and 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV, according to GM Authority sources.
It will no longer be possible to order the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV or EUV in Ice Blue Metallic after this week, according to the information GM Authority obtained. The color will be built out after the week of September 18th, 2023.
For the Chevy Bolt EV, Ice Blue Metallic is available on the 1LT and 2LT trim levels at no additional charge. It can only be ordered in conjunction with the Jet Black interior colorway, the only interior option available. For the Chevy Bolt EUV, Ice Blue Metallic is available on both the LT and Premier trim levels, and can be combined with all interior colorways:
- Jet Black
- Jet Black and Nightshift Blue
- Dark Ash Gray and Sky Cool Gray
Ice Blue Metallic was first offered for the Chevy Bolt EV in conjunction with the 2022 model year, the same model year as for the Chevy Bolt EUV. It’s currently unclear if the exterior paint color will be offered on the future, next-generation Chevy Bolt.
As a reminder, the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV and 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV are both equipped with a 65 kWh battery pack, which supplies energy to the front-mounted electric motor. Total output is rated at 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, while both models utilize the GM BEV2 platform for structure.
Production of the Chevy Bolt takes place at the GM Lake Orion plant in Michigan. GM plans call for 70,000 Chevy Bolt units to roll off the assembly line in calendar 2023, a 59-percent boost from the 44,000 vehicles built in calendar 2022.
The next-generation Chevy Bolt will be powered by third-generation GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors, while The General has not yet indicated what platform will be found under the body panels, nor where production will take place. Reveal and release dates will be announced in the future.
