Hang A 1973 Chevy Blazer On The Tree This Coming Christmas

A far cry from the Chevy Blazer found on dealership lots today, the K5 Blazer was a popular SUV offering in its heyday. Born to compete with the likes of the International Harvester Scout, Ford Bronco and Jeep CJ Series, the body-on-frame Chevy Blazer is still sought-after amongst enthusiasts. Now, we have the opportunity to hang the Bow Tie SUV from your Christmas tree this upcoming holiday season, as Hallmark has released a 1973 Chevy Blazer ornament.

Measuring in at 4.38 inches long, 1.65 inches tall and 1.63 inches wide, this scaled-down model of Bow Tie brand’s iconic Blazer is perfect for the off-road enthusiast, and costs only $21.99. Adding to the authenticity of this ornament is a two-tone paint job, functional wheels, and a loaded Christmas tree out back. Hallmark claims that the model is ready to be ordered online or picked up in-store immediately.

One notable aspect of this Chevy Blazer model is that it features a 1973 license plate up front, and a 2023 license plate out back.

Although related in name only, the current Chevy Blazer is a popular offering from the Bow Tie brand. For the 2023 model year, the midsize crossover received a mid-cycle refresh that included updated front and rear fascias, interior upgrades, and a revised trim lineup.

In the powertrain department, the turbocharged 2.0L LSY I4 gasoline engine is equipped as standard affair on 2LT, 3LT and Premier trim levels, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The naturally aspirated 3.6L LGX V6 gasoline engine, equipped as standard on the RS trim and available as an option on the 3LT and Premier trim levels, is rated at 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Both engine options are mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission. FWD is standard and AWD is optional.

Under the body panels, the Blazer rides on the GM C1 platform. Production of the 2024 Blazer is currently scheduled to kick off on July 10th, 2023 at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, while production of the current 2023 Blazer will end on July 8th, 2023.

  1. Must be an Inline 6, like my ’74 C10 (no engine badge on the grille). Being an I-6 enthusiast, this pleases me.
