The 2024 Chevy Camaro is the final model year for the current sixth-generation sports car, offering up a few crucial updates and changes compared to the preceding 2023 model year. It goes without saying that enthusiasts will love the 2024 Chevy Camaro for many different reasons, but perhaps one of the most important is the availability of the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1 engine. Now, GM Authority has learned that GM will produce more 2024 Chevy Camaro units with the 6.2L V8 LT1.
According to GM Authority sources, General Motors will produce roughly 60 percent more units of the 2024 Chevy Camaro equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1 engine, as compared to the number of LT1-powered 2023 Chevy Camaro units that were produced. Basically, that means more Chevy Camaros equipped with the LT1 engine will be produced for the 2024 model year than were produced for the 2023 model year. Production of the 2024 Chevy Camaro will begin August 7th, 2023, per a GM Authority exclusive.
All of that should come as good news for those Camaro fans eager to snag an example of the iconic Chevy performance vehicle with a generous heaping of atmospheric V8 goodness under the hood. As a reminder, the LT1 engine is available for three 2024 Chevy Camaro trim levels, including LT1, 1SS, and 2SS. Engine specs include cast aluminum construction for the block and head, Active Fuel Management, and Variable Valve Timing (VVT). The LT1 can also be found under the hood of the C7 Chevy Corvette.
In the Chevy Camaro, output from the LT1 is rated at a maximum of 455 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 455 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm.
The 2024 Chevy Camaro will officially sunset the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro, and as such, it offers a few enticing special edition models, including the 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector’s Edition, as well as the 2024 Chevy Camaro Garage 56 Edition.

Great! Maybe my Riptide Blue 2SS will actually be built.
Yes we ordered a 2023 in Dec.2022 and did not get it . So our dealer ordered a 2024 and we are still waiting to see if we will get it.
Amazing! Why wouldn’t a corporation build a sold order? However, GM does it all the time. Morons.
Ya,great, probably because they are selling better than the EV’s
Too bad this engine isn’t available in the CT-5 V instead of the TT V6.
I have an allocation for a 2024 with the LGX v6 already… might be rare?
How did you manage a 2024 when GM website shows no 24′ camaros or even as a future vehicle? My dlr said 23′ was last midel yr like several publications.
I really want a ZL1 but I will probably take the LT1. I have a beautifull low K 2001 Camaro SS with 42 K on it 6speed black on black, loaded, including T tops never seen snow with the original windshield wash, in the reservoir. They say it is 325 horse but feels like 400. What a machine, might be up for sale when I get the new one.
…sounds like it already is..
Camaro dude, you are wasting your time I waited 5 months for my 2SS to find out they were not going to build any more 2SS camaro’s. I ordered it in Dec. 2022. So good luck with that.
I oredered a 2SS in early October 2022 and by June 2023 found my order hadn’t moved to production. I searched the inventory and called a few dealerships before finding one that was built and not already sold. I grabbed it up and now have it in my driveway. Happy to have one as I don’t know if I’d ever see the one I ordered.
GM could have built your sold order but instead, they built a car for stock for another dealer out of your hometown. Leaving it up to you, to find your own car. Makes no sense! And GM is supposed to be an $86 target stock. Maybe $3.86.
The LT1 screams to be supercharged. GM has had the world’s best automotive engineers for decades. Unfortunately, they are constrained by boneheaded management decisions. Ending production of the hugely popular Camaro is foolish. If GM wants to capitalize on the billions they have invested in electric vehicle R&D, bring new electric models to market but leave the big block V8s alone.
High compression motor doesn’t scream to be supercharged. Hugely popular? The reason they are dropping it is because of poor sales and being last in the segment. As much as I love the Camaro and want to see it continue, I see why they are ending it unfortunately.
I got a 2020 Camaro 2SS with only 10,611 miles on the clock and that’s good enough for me. Shadow gray metallic, medium ash gray interior, automatic, ZL1 “lowboy” rear spoiler, front 2nd gen spoiler and premium split 5spoke wheels in bright silver.
I have an order in for a ZL1 non collector’s edition with hopes that my dealership gets an allocation. I’m number 1 on the list with my fingers crossed that the economy stays stable enough that I can get mine build. Stay tune for the results!
When is GM going to upgrade their website for the build and price tool ? It’s still on the 2023 camaro models !

I got a A10 23′ LT1. Where is these engines built?? It runs like crap, might be trading for a 5.0.
