GM To Replace Evaporative Purge Valve In Some Buick Enclave Units

GM has issued a new technical service bulletin to dealerships regarding a problem with the evaporative emissions purge valve in select units of the 2019 Buick Enclave.

In the service bulletin, The General states that 2019 Enclave units equipped with the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine may have a condition where the evaporative purge valve does not fully close. If this condition were to occur, the engine has the potential to run rough, hesitate, or stall at idle speeds. In addition, the Malfunction Indicator Light – or Check Engine Light – could illuminate, which would indicate that a diagnostic trouble code was set.

To remedy this situation, certified GM technicians are to replace the evaporative emissions purge valve as necessary, while the repairs will be performed at no extra charge to the customer.

Notably, this technical service bulletin will be available for quite some time, as General Motors stated that affected vehicles will be covered for a period of 15 years or 150,000 miles – whichever comes first – from the date that the vehicles was originally placed into service. Additionally, this repair is tagged as bulletin number N232395300.

It’s worth noting that other GM vehicles equipped with the 3.6L V6 LFY engine, in addition to those equipped with the turbocharged 1.4L I4 LUV gasoline engine, may also be afflicted with this issue. With that in mind, the following vehicles are included in this technical service bulletin:

As a reminder, the 2019 Buick Enclave was offered with the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, which produced 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. This output was routed to the ground through the GM nine-speed automatic transmission. FWD is standard while AWD was optional.

Under the skin, the Enclave rides on the long-wheelbase version of the GM C1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

  3. My 2018 Enclave is right now having this issue. Bought my car in November 2018 and we just were told the Purge Valve is failing and needs replacing. Seeing this recall, why are they limiting it to these years specifically… especially when I’m sure based on the failure it started earlier than 2019… Seems like the service department should have worked harder to get get it covered under the recall.

    1. Agree. Bought ’18 Enclave in May of ’24. Just had it fixed today at a cost of $333 at my GM dealer in Northern Wisconsin. Don’t understand why 2019 and not 2018 if same insides.
