Chevy Trax Deliveries Very Strong In June 2023

In May 2023, the Chevy Trax stood as the Bow Tie brand’s fastest-turning model, with nearly 8,000 retail deliveries during that time period. While an impressive statistic in its own right, it appears as though momentum may be building, as deliveries of the subcompact crossover increased once again in June 2023.

As of the time of this writing, GM Authority sources familiar with the matter tell us that the Chevy Trax posted almost 10,000 retail deliveries over the course of June 2023, making the subcompact crossover the Bow Tie brand’s fastest-turning model for the second month in a row. Notably, the Trax posted a 114 percent rise in sales during Q2 2023 as compared to Q2 2022 figures.

With that in mind, there are currently 1,300 Trax units on dealership lots as of early July 2023, with another 13,300 examples en route. As such, it’s likely that this positive trend in sales and delivery figures will only continue. In fact, the average transaction price (ATP) of a new Trax unit during Q2 2023 stood at $24,487.

It’s worth noting that there’s a roughly 16-week timeframe from dealer order submission to arrival on dealership lots.

As a reminder, the next-gen 2024 Chevy Trax is powered by the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed to the front wheels exclusively via the GM six-speed automatic transmission.

Under the skin, the 2024 Trax rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set. Production kicked off back in February 2023 at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea, while pricing for the entry-level 1LS trim starts at $21,495, which includes the destination freight charge. The online configurator is currently live.

  1. And dealers are adding markups to these as well…the fun never ends.

  2. This and the new Trailblazer should go a long way in increasing Chevrolet’s brand awareness in urban areas on both coasts.

  3. I’ve yet to see one in person, but those numbers are great. But the average transaction price seems high. I like that GM isn’t pulling a Ford (Maverick) and actually is building a lot.

  4. I was able to get inside a Trax in March at an autoshow and it was an impressive package. The engine is a let down, but otherwise it’s a compelling package.

    1. I have seen an RS in person and it looks really good. There are a few starting to cruise around town. The one thing that ruined it for me is the lack of AWD. Here in Michigan, FWD cars tend to struggle through intersections during the snowy season between July and May. I had a FWD Equinox and after the first snowfall, I instantly regretted getting FWD instead of AWD.

  5. If only it had a 4cyl. Otherwise, I’ve heard mostly good things about this.

  6. everyone complaining about its a 3 cylinder, have you drove it? All the reviews says its fine for the car. Its not a sports car or sport SUV its a commuter car. Seems like those buying don’t mind because most only care to have a car to drive and don’t care about extra power.

  7. I came from a 2.0L 4-cylinder CVT car to ’24 Trax, and I’ve had better experience in merging into highway from a complete stop in Trax.

Trax does 0-50 & 0-60 perfectly fine. It’s going from 65 – 95 that it suffers, but hey it’s a 21.5k car, so I am not too sad about it.

    1. $21.5k. You got your money’s worth.

  8. I bought an all black 2rs after trading in my 2019 ford escape that started to have the coolant intrusion issue. The Trax is actually zipper than the escape, just as comfortable, and I’m averaging 32 MPG total. City and highway. Best of all, my dealer did NOT try to up sell the car.

  9. I was shocked how good this this looks. It is night and day over the lady model.

As for the engine get over your cylinder phobia. Power and torque are all that matters. Also this thing is not a a Camaro.

  10. Affordable yet stylish cars/suv/trucks are in high demand . Trax does good job being an everyday car . It’s shame the trial blazers gets in the way of not having a AWD system

    1. The Trax and the Trailblazer have their own lanes. You must have been told stay in your own lane.

      1. That’s ridiculous if the trax had AWD there would be no reason buy that ugly gimmick they call trail blazer .

  11. I purchased a 2024 Trax over two months ago. I also have a 6.2 GMC Sierra with loads of power, so I love power.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the power of this little 3 cylinder turbo engine.
I can’t see it lacks for power at all. Really fun to drive. Lots of features and lots of space for a car like this.
I took it for a 1600 mile trip and speeds were from 55 to 80 on the road and also did town driving.
I averaged 36 MPG. Just driving around town I get 32 MPH. Highway about 70 MPH i can squeeze almost 40 MPG.
That’s pretty good for the power it has. Not a bit disappointed in the performance.

  12. We’ve had our Blue Glow Trax LT for 2 months now and love it. Plenty of power, most would assume it’s a non-turbo 4 cylinder. So far, with ~2100 miles it’s averaging 34mpg in mixed driving.

No worries about only being FWD, been driving for 35 years in Minnesota with FWD and a good set of winter rated tires with no issues. Will be replacing stock tires with a set of Michelin CrossClimate or Bridgestone Weatherpeak tires this fall. Guessing mileage will drop slightly just from having stickier tires.

Haven’t seen or heard about any dealers marking up over MSRP, in fact seen several marking down $500-1,000. I doubt these claims that dealers are asking over MSRP are even true. And if so, go somewhere else.

    1. Agree, before the 80’s almost no one had 4WD except construction trucks and a few select vehicles. Plus we had rear wheel drive which is even trickier but we figured it out.

  13. Haven’t seen one up front and personal yet. All our area Chevy dealers have theirs sold or in transit, with most the in transit models promised out also.

  14. I bought a new 2024 Trax about 6 weeks ago.
I was a little concerned it would be underpowered as some have indicated this concern as well.
Now with 2600 miles on it, I think the power is acceptable. Certainly not over-powered, but it’s reasonably powered.
Mileage is a little lower than I would like, but averaging right around 30 mpg.
On a trip down to Tucson from Phx., I averaged about 34 mpg, while cruising at 80-83 mph.
I really like the car, especially for the price. I wanted a low cost good mileage smallish SUV, and the Trax definitely fits the bill.
I got the LT model, even though would have taken the LS model if one was available at the time.
It has a few features I just don’t need, like heated Steering Wheel and Seats, but that’s how the packages are bundled.
I’m impressed with all you get for the price.
I wanted a Hyundai Tucson or Chevy Equinox, but both are about 8,000 dollars more at the respective trim levels, for just a little more room inside. Legroom is fine even for tall people, in front and back seating.
I would definitely recommend the Trax to anyone who is looking for a smallish SUV with decent mileage at a lower cost point.

My only concern at the moment is reliability, being a new model, new engine, new build location, turbo, all the electronics,
Hopefully, Chevy has done their job in reliability testing all these things, as I don’t want to have issues for at least 150k miles/six years.
Overall, reasonably priced vehicle for reasonable vehicle and reasonable gas mileage.

  15. Gee I wonder if the cargo ship off the Netherlands has these vehicles on board. Supposedly there are 3 thousand vehicles on board and the ship is on fire??

    Reply
    1. Why would you even think there would be any 2024 Trax on that ship? It was going from Germany to Egypt, no where near Korea.

  16. Have a deposit on one for 2.5 months through a dealer in Indiana. It has been built and has been sitting in California since February with no details on ETA through my dealer. About to switch and buy something else.

    Reply
    1. This is simply not true. They started production at the end of February and by the time the first ones arrived it was late March. So if a dealer is saying it’s been sitting in California since February they are pulling a fast one on you. Get your deposit back and go somewhere else.

    3. I’ve been waiting on mine since May! I keep getting told mine is sitting in Portland.

I’m curious, what, if any, packages did you get? I’m starting to wonder if my delay was due to the parts restriction for the rear park assist. I reserved an allocated vehicle that was in production.

      Reply
      1. I doubt yours has been sitting in Portland. No constraint would delay shipping times. Did you order it as a new order? If so, the delay is that they needed to build the car and ship it over, that takes 4-5 months. I would ask for the VIN number and then you can back track to when it was built.

        Reply
        1. No, it was one that the dealership already on order. My paperwork had an estimated production date of April 17th, if I remember correctly. I put money down, May 8th, and was told it was in southern California May 15th, then June 10th in Portland and no real shipping progress update since then. (According to the dealership)

          1. Ask for your VIN, look at the last 5 numbers. If it was built in mid-April it would have a low number. Guessing it would be somewhere around 20,000 – 30,000 (guessing at these numbers). Our way built in March and VIN ends ~10,000. If your VIN is significantly higher then it was built later. Many of these travel by train, CP takes them up to Canada to get across and down into the US at various locations. But at this point shouldn’t matter how far it has to go out should have arrived at the dealer by now.

  17. I would appreciate knowing the name of dealers who will sell on of these at less than MSRP. I would be happy to get a one way ticket to fly to get a better price. All the fools who paid more than MSRP for a vehicle caused this bad situation for us consumers. Let the cars get ‘lot-rot’ and dealers will scream at companies and get us some dealer profits plus what GM can put on the units. GM is prepared to give massive raises to UAW workers who work no harder than Taco Bell workers (I did 5 years on the line and have also flipped hamburgers, and at the hamburger joint absenteeism isn’t tolerated). Koreans give better 5/50 warranty so they have more faith in their products. GM and Fraud are even ‘American cars’ anymore as they have outsourced all their engineering work to Brazil, the release work to India and the purchasing to China and their IT ‘help (less) desk is terrible. Billy Ford and Mary Barra are just about their bonuses and have no allegiance to the stockholders. The head of Toyota got beat up by that adulterer Al Gore for saying that gasoline, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and future for hydrogen were the way to go. Greedy Bill Gates used his power to push those battery car pieces of con-job and Manchin sold out his vote for the Mountain Valley Pipeline. Remember Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 will take a total of $12,000 out of YOUR pocket after battery car is purchased a second time (if from you 2020-2024 gouging over-MSRP 2024 Trax is a nice unit but Toyota is the most American of all, sad to say. At bargaining time the big three will cave hugely crowd to the UAW, ‘you ain’t working’. With full benefits the people will be getting and all in cost of $100,000-120,000 but the can will be kicked down the road the fat cats will keep their mega-bonuses coming in. Fraud engines and transmissions come from india or China. Mach E batteries cost a retail price of $33,000 $41,000 plus labor and disposal. Why such a low warranty of 8 years and 100,000 miles, it because they know the realistic life of these grossly overhyped electrical vehicles. It is all, “Vote for Me’ and ‘When do I get my bonus. Yeh, they ‘bone-us’ alright and the Fain of the UAW iis just as guilty supporting all the crazy high money demands and supporting absenteeism.
