The Ram 1500 is set to receive an extensive refresh for the 2025 model year, with a long list of upgrades and changes in store to keep it competitive with the Chevy Silverado 1500. The current fifth-generation Ram 1500 initially launched for the 2019 model year, just like the current fourth-generation Chevy Silverado 1500, which means the two rivals are on roughly the same general cadence. Now, the new 2025 Ram 1500 has been caught testing as a prototype.
Despite the camouflage, we know that this particular prototype is an example of the Tungsten Edition, which will be offered as the new range-topper of the lineup. Further updates will include a new front and rear fascia, as well as some changes to the interior. Not only that, but the 2025 Ram 1500 is also expected to offer the automaker’s high-output twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six engine, rated at a stout 510 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque when cradled by the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
The Ram 1500 has been something of a thorn in the side of the Chevy Silverado 1500 since the launch of the current fifth-generation for the 2019 model year. Most recently, sales figures for the full-size pickup segment through the first half of the 2023 calendar year reveal the Ram 1500 nipping at the heels of the Chevy Silverado in terms of sales volume, with 223,049 units sold, as compared to the 268,291 units sold for the Chevy product. Those figures yield 25 percent market share for the Chevy Silverado 1500 and 21 percent market share for the Ram 1500. Topping the list is the Ford F-150 with 382,893 units sold and 35 percent market share.

Indeed, the close rivalry between these two pickups extends quite a bit further back as well, with the Ram 1500 outselling the Chevy Silverado in some quarters. Just a few recent examples would be Q3 of the 2022 calendar year and Q4 of the 2021 calendar year.
Naturally, we’ll keep an eye on the upcoming 2025 Ram 1500 refresh and see how it all plays out when it hits prime time, so stay tuned. In the meantime, subscribe to GM Authority for more GM competition news, Chevy Silverado news, Chevy news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.
Ram 35k units behind Chevy is a pretty decent amount. Keep in mind though that Ram is already offering $10k off or more at the dealers.
Ram skipping a mid cycle enhancement catching up with them?
Is the next gen Silverado coming in 25?
Yeah 2025 for the 2026MY
Yes with an all new V8. The hurricane motor will have the wind stollen out of its sails.
Ram hasn’t done anything exciting lately and their numbers show that .
Just a point of clarification–F-Series sales include everything from the F-150 to the F-600, just like the Silverado sales number encompasses more than just the 1500.
WE should also remember that GM markets 2 full size trucks the Chevy and the GMC,
The GMC is for the higher trims , where as Ford and Ram market under 1 brand.
I don’t thing GM is took concerned about the Ram Volume.
They sold 411,299 pickups with 143,000 the higher profit GMCs with a combined 38% of the market
Ford is next with 382,893 at 35% share
And last is Ram 223,049 at 21%
GM sold nearly twice as many full size trucks.
In my area Ram is still pushing 22.s with 10-11k on the hood , plus many sales that the brand has is the older model pre-2019 refresh , that is marketed at bargain prices as the Ram classic
This is a different customer , perhaps more like the work truck buyer who just wants a new vehicle and is not concerned with the latest style , tech, or size of the center stack!!
I think you have to look at lease bs retail sales , and you have to then take into account residual value dow the road . Just because you build “x “ amount of trucks doesn’t mean the value holds down the line . I’m also still dumbfounded no dual lane sunroof and still uses leaf springs on the rear end , just saying .
Rams are trailer-park trucks.
There. I said it.
Toyota Nissan Honda and HyunKia are the preferred vehicles for the credit challenged/dollar store/ trailer park dwellers
We’re talking about full-size pickup trucks, thus me saying “trailer park trucks”. Everybody knows that Ram pickup trucks parked next to a run down trailer is an all-too-common scene.
Saying “Everybody knows” doesn’t make your feeling true.
Poor people buy whatever they can afford, and it’s always used. If it’s true that more of them are driving Rams, then you’re saying Rams last longer and can still be driven by poor people when they are old?
When’s last time you were down south , just saying . Cause that Chevy bow tie sits in trailer parks more frequently than rams , not to mention Walmart parking lots .
It is not hard to believe throwaway brand vehicles like HyunKia, Mazda and rotted out Toyotas and Nissans would be the main parking lot dwellers at garbage stores like Dollar General and Walmart
