The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will soon receive a mid-cycle enhancement (MCE), known more popularly as a refresh, with updates expected for the exterior styling and the cabin. Now, GM Authority spy photographers have caught a prototype of the refreshed Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing testing on public roads, giving us another early sneak peek at what’s in store.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the refreshed Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing testing as a camouflaged prototype. However, these new photos provide us with a somewhat clearer view of the MCE changes, especially when it comes to the cabin.
This particular Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing prototype is covered in Radiant Red Tintcoat paint (paint code GNT), which provides a nice contrast to the black trim and exterior detailing. Up front, the prototype hides a revised front fascia under body-hugging black-and-white camo, but we can still make out the new headlight design. A set of LED clusters provide the primary forward lighting, with the housing now wider than that of the pre-refresh design, while an uninterrupted vertical lighting signature runs from the top of the fender down into the lower bumper.
The profile doesn’t reveal any significant updates or changes, and carries over the design of the pre-refresh model. The rear end is also identical, showing the same rear lighting design, rear valence, and exhaust.
Critically, our spy photographers also caught a glimpse of the new Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing interior, including a new, larger infotainment screen that could span the instrument cluster and center stack, taking inspiration from the Cadillac Lyriq and refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4.
Per previous GM Authority coverage, the Cadillac CT5 lineup was originally expected to introduce a refresh for the 2024 model year. Now, however, new details have come to light which indicate the refresh will in fact arrive for the 2025 model year, or perhaps the 2024.5 model year. Even so, the introduction of a refresh for the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing just a few years after its debut for the 2022 model year is noteworthy in itself, representing the first time that GM has carried out a refresh for a range-topping V-Series model in at least a decade.
As a reminder, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing features the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine for motivation, generating 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual co-developed with Tremec is standard, while the GM 10-speed automatic is optional. The GM Alpha 2 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.

With the Camaro phased out fans of the manual transmission will only have the CT5-V Blackwing to look forward to at GM.
And the CT4-V Blackwing too… it also offers a manual… but no V8.
When Cadillac goes all EV both CT4 & 5 should be refreshed & sold either as Buick Grand National 4 & 5 or as Chevrolet Chevelle 4 & 5.
Last time GM shifted a model it was Pontiac G8 as SS with less personality. This time the models should get a price cut and be aimed at Charger, Challenger. There is a RWD demo that GM ignores with Buick. GM seems scared of internal cannibalization when, in fact, no one buys GM anymore but instead, chooses not even a brand but, instead, model
😂 😆 yeah, that worked well.
Hopefully, Cadillac is working on a lighter weight higher performance special edition model just like BMW does with the M5.
The Ct5v blackwing already delivers more power and almost as light as the m5 CS, the ct5v blackwing did a faster laptime at willow springs than the m5 CS, the blackwing is already the pinnacle of Cadillac performance. The only special edition they will do is only with exterior paint and decals like they did with the CTS V. I suspect, the new facelifted ct5v blackwing will not have any performance extensions like BMW’s CS/CSL but could potentially pack higher power from the Escalade v which delivers 682hp vs 668hp in the ct5v blackwing. Adding another performance nameplate will also make it more confusing for many people.
When is Color Downpour Metallic out the 24 HD?
😂 😆 yeah, that worked well.
ok its a sedan but also a hatchback. what is going on in cadillac with their sedan department??
CT-5 refresh giving a CTS style vibes to me, and that’s a good thing!
