2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ: What We Know And Expect

Cadillac is transitioning to all-electric power, and it’s taking the Escalade nameplate along for the ride. The new all-electric SUV will be dubbed the Cadillac Escalade IQ, and is set to debut next month. Now, GM Authority is giving you the full rundown on everything we know and expect from the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ.

The Cadillac Escalade IQ nameplate.

Model Line

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ takes after the rest of the all-electric Cadillac lineup with regard to naming conventions, as initially demonstrated by models like the Cadillac Lyriq and Cadillac Celestiq. However, the luxury brand is taking a slightly different approach by adding the “IQ” suffix as a separate identifier at the end of the Cadillac Escalade nameplate, rather than integrating “IQ” directly into the “Escalade” name.

A Cadillac Escalade IQL will eventually follow as a longer-wheelbase variant of the Escalade IQ. However, during last year’s investor day presentation, GM president Mark Reuss hinted that the IQL would be somewhat different than the regular-wheelbase IQ. “The wheelbase differences we have today and the size base differences we have today on our full-size SUVs, we’re going to do it again in a much more innovative way, though,” he said. “You’re going to see things here, design, size, platform sharing-wise, but also technology-wise, that will be very different from what we execute today. We’re pretty much finished with the design, and going for production.”

In addition, a high-performance Escalade IQ-V model may be released later on the SUV’s lifecycle, delivering more power and torque from a three-motor setup, plus more athletic suspension and revised styling.

Exterior

Spy shots reveal that the Cadillac Escalade IQ appears to be significantly less bulky than the ICE-based Escalade, while still maintaining classic utility vehicle proportions. The new Escalade IQ will also be available with 24-inch wheels, while retractable running boards will be equipped as standard on most models.

Interior

Inside, look for a three-row seating configuration. The Cadillac Escalade IQ will also likely offer more interior room than the ICE-based Escalade, despite a smaller overall exterior footprint. Infotainment goodies will be top-of-the-line, and will include a pillar-to-pillar infotainment display, plus available GM Ultra Cruise, GM’s next-level autonomous driver-assist system enabling hands-free driving in 95 percent of all driving scenarios.

Powertrain

Providing the motivation will be GM Ultium Drive motor technology and GM Ultium battery technology, the latter which will likely include a 24-module battery pack, while the former will boast all-wheel-drive grip to put the power down. Both a two- and three-motor powertrain will be offered, as will rear-wheel steering. Maximum output is expected to hit at roughly 650 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, while range-per-charge will be as high as 450 miles.

Platform

Under the skin, the Cadillac Escalade IQ will ride on the GM BT1 platform, the same underpinnings as the GMC Hummer EV, Chevy Silverado EV, and GMC Sierra EV.

Availability

The Cadillac Escalade IQ is expected to launch in 2024 for the 2025 model year, and will be sold in North America, China, and select export markets. Look for the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ to make its formal debut on August 9th, 2023.

Production

We expect Escalade IQ pricing to start around $100,000 for the U.S. market.

Production

Production will take place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, previously known as Detroit-Hamtramck.
