2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X In Onyx Black: Live Photo Gallery

As previously reported by GM Authority, General Motors pulled the cover off the off-road-focused 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X in May 2023. Since then, we’ve been eagerly awaiting for the first real-world pictures of the all-terrain monster in production spec, and now, GM Authority spy photographers have done just that. So, with that in mind, today we’re taking a closer look at the 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X in the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.

This particular 2024 Sierra HD is configured in the Crew Cab, Standard Bed configuration and is painted in the Black paint color (color code GBA). Notably, this 2024 Sierra HD AT4X features the optional 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine instead of the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, which is the standard powertrain choice.

Of course, with the responsibility of representing the pinnacle of off-roading capabilities for the 2024 Sierra HD lineup, the AT4X is equipped with a suite of all-terrain goodies. This includes chonky 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, a high-clearance front bumper, Multimatic DSSV shocks, front- and rear-locking differentials, and a factory-installed 1.5-inch suspension lift.

Other notable details include a steel transfer case skid plate and aluminum front skid plate, along with a new Off-Road Mode that modifies settings for the brakes, traction control, stability control, throttle, and transmission to provide the ultimate all-terrain experience.

It’s worth noting that General Motors is offering an even more off-roading-focused Sierra HD in the form of the upcoming 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition.

As previously mentioned, the 6.6L L8T gasoline engine is equipped as standard on the AT4X trim, while the Duramax is optional. In regard to output figures, the gasser is rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, while the turbodiesel has been uprated for the 2024 model year to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque.

Regardless of engine choice, every 2024 Sierra HD model is equipped with the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission.

Production of the refreshed 2024 GMC Sierra HD kicked off in February 2023 at the GM Flint plant in Michigan. Meanwhile, the AT4X trim is currently expected to hit dealership lots this fall.

  1. Unless something has changed I think you need to fix the part in the article that says “front- and rear-locking differentials” to rear-locking differential only. Great looking truck overall. Fender flares are unique to this model and much better looking with the shorter overhangs below the body line. Love the stance and 35’s, should clear 37’s with little effort!

  2. Any idea when you can place an order for the GMC 2500 ATX4 AEV version? Have my name on a list at a local GMC dealership. They really had no idea what I was talking about but were really nice about it.
