GM just announced that the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup‘s 3X trim level will boast an extended driving range compared to the previous model year when it is released to reservation holders in autumn 2023.
The extra range will be available on the GMC Hummer 3X Pickup powered by the optional 24-module battery, with range apparently unchanged for vehicles with the 20-module battery equipped as standard on the 3X trim level.
Driving range on a single charge is now rated at 381 miles for the 2024 GMC Hummer EV 3X Pickup with the 24-module battery. This represents a 26-mile boost of the maximum range compared to the 2023 GMC Hummer EV 3X.
Additionally, the range improvement adds 30 miles to the maximum driving distance per charge of the GMC Hummer EV 3X when equipped with the Extreme Off-Road Package, an optional add-on marked with RPO code Z6X. Range rises from 329 miles for the 2023 model year to 359 miles for the 2024 GMC Hummer 3X Pickup outfitted with the package.
GM quoted chief GMC Hummer engineer Al Oppenheiser as saying the improvement offers “more driving range and confidence” for “extended road trips, overlanding in remote areas or daily driving.” He added that Big Red’s engineering team is “excited” to “take the GMC Hummer EV farther than ever for our customers and their adventures.”
Driven by a three-motor powertrain with one front and two rear motors, the GMC Hummer EV 3X Pickup was previously pegged at a maximum 355 miles per charge when equipped with its standard 22-inch wheels. This fell to 329 miles both for trucks equipped with the Extreme Off-Road Package and for the launch-edition 2023 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 Pickup.
The Edition 1 was the only trim initially available for both the Pickup and SUV variants of the GMC Hummer EV. However, the 3X trim debuted in April 2023, slotting into the lineup below the Edition 1. With the optional 24-module battery pack, the GM Hummer 3X Pickup’s triple motor powertrain generates 1,000 horsepower and roughly 1,200 pound-feet of torque.
The electric pickup’s 2024 model year is also expected to introduce two additional trim levels, the dual-motor 2 and 2X trims. Meanwhile, GM Authority learned production of the 2 and 2X has been delayed.
A new limited-run variant, the 2024 GMC Hummer Omega Edition, is also planned and will feature the unique Neptune Blue Matte exterior paint color alongside various upgraded features.
The GMC Hummer EV Pickup rides on the GM BT1 platform. Production of the 2024 Hummer Pickup officially kicked off on June 23rd, 2023 at the GM Factory Zero plant in Detroit, Michigan.

So what changed to create this improvement? You kind of missed 60% of the story here
likely some tuning in the motors and battery tweaks, also real world range for the Hummer has been in the high 300s to 400 miles for many owners.

All software based changes maybe… eking out the best efficiencies from the motors and battery.

That. Does. Not. Explain the reason why the 24 module pack is now rated with additional range
Just read a post that it was tweaks to the wheels and minor changes to aero on the vehicles.
The tires on the 2024 Hummer have better Rolling resistance.
So with the bigger battery does it weigh 10,000 pounds instead of 9000?
It’s the same battery already in the Edition 1 that comes standard. However to get the 381 Miles you need to not get the Extreme Off Roading Package.
So it won’t be as heavy, probably under 9k lbs now.
So this pig is hogging up all the batteries for the Equinox and Blazer!
