GM’s crosstown rival, Ford Motor Co., is set to roll out a refresh for the Ford F-150 (a chief competitor to the Chevy Silverado 1500) in conjunction with the 2024 model year. Prototype units of the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 have been spotted testing, many times without any camouflage at all. Interestingly, one of these 2024 Ford F-150 prototypes reveals that the refreshed pickup may offer a new backlit logo.
Per a report from our sister publication, Ford Authority, a 2024 Ford F-150 prototype was recently spied showing what appears to be a backlit Ford logo on the front grille. Photos of the prototype reveal a black oval design placed front and center on the grille. The badge is flat, rather than rounded like the badge on the current model, with a black background color offset by white lettering and a white oval surround. Critically, the white script and oval appear to be backlit.
Ford Authority notes that the badge background will also be available in blue, citing sources familiar with the matter. This particular 2024 Ford F-150 prototype appears to be an example of the Lariat trim level and is equipped with the Black Appearance Package.
Notably, a select number of Lincoln models are equipped with a backlit Star badge. However, a backlit badge for the 2024 Ford F-150 would be a first for the pickup nameplate. The flat badge also seems to indicate that Ford went to the trouble of completely revamping the front grill badge of the popular light-duty pickup.
Further updates expected from the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 include new headlights, new taillights, a revised grille design, and new 22-inch wheels, as well as an available modular front bumper. Moving inside, the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 will also debut a new infotainment layout similar to that of the all-new 2023 Ford Super Duty.
