2024 Chevy Traverse Images Leaked Ahead of Official Debut

Images of the all-new 2024 Chevy Traverse leaked online this morning, hours ahead of the vehicle’s official reveal at 10:30 AM ET. Thanks to an astute GM Authority reader, we’re able to bring you first look at what’s in store with this upcoming crossover SUV hours ahead of its debut.

These 2024 Chevy Traverse images show the RS trim of the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse, the first model year of the crossover’s all-new, third-generation. The exterior has been completely reworked, including the dual-tier headlights that generally give the crossover SUV a more truck-like aesthetic.

The front fascia features Chevy’s “High Brow” design language, with a dual-tier headlight configuration. The body side, meanwhile, features muscular surface detailing, along with a forward-leaning C-pillars and large-diameter black wheels. A set of black accents can be seen throughout, as we would expet from an RS model.

Turning to the interior, the leaked image of the cockpit includes the description “best-in-class standard 17.7-inch diagonal colour touchscreen,” with the photo showing the 17.7-inch infotainment screen described in the text. Indeed, the 2024 Chevy Traverse will feature GM’s latest infotainment system, one that seems similar to that used in the 2024 Silverado EV.

Notably, the image also confirms the availability of the GM Super Cruise system for the 2024 Chevy Traverse. The image reveals the semicircle light bar on top of the steering wheel that shows the current status of Super Cruise, while the driver-facing camera module is also visible.

Beyond the cockpit, we expect the 2024 Chevy Traverse to also feature an overhauled cabin with more room, better ergonomics, along with new colorways and better materials.

The third leaked image, shown just above, shows that the crossover’s RS trim level will get a set of black seats with red accents and the RS logo in the headrest.

The image also shows a panoramic sunroof, enabling more light to enter the cabin and creating a more spacious feel for the interior.

As a reminder, motivation will be provided to the 2024 Chevy Traverse by the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, per yet another GM Authority exclusive. Output will be directed through the GM nine-speed automatic transmission to standard front-wheel drive (FWD) or optional all-wheel drive (AWD).

For structure, the 2024 Chevy Traverse will continue to ride on the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform, albeit with several improvements for the new generation. One of these improvements will be the addition of the Global B digital architecture.

Production will take place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan starting in December.

  1. Way more butch than expected! I love it. It looks more like a full size truck than a chubby SUV. I expect the Tahoe/Suburban to have a similar look.

  2. This looks VERY good.

    1. I still need a shiny grill and wheels not the WT look.

  3. This is going to be a hot sell! I might even trade in my ’18 for this!

  4. Meh, the c pillar looks stupid.

    1. Ya, it looked great until I noticed the C pillar.

  7. Good job GM, I think you have a winner.

  8. I had a 2020 and currently have a 2023 and I am not extremely impressed it looks to aggressive for me. Hopefully the new Acadia will look better or I’ll look else where when I get another suv.

    1. This is the RS trim, it’s supposed to look aggressive in this trim, there will be more subdued versions as well.

We will see shortly with the full announcement.

    1. Probably some Ford trolls.

  10. It looks good, and I’m not really an SUV guy. I think any design will be popular when it makes a unibody SUV look more like a truck.

  11. True I always get the LT Leather so I am use to the more subdued looks I guess. Definitely love my 23 but do love the looks of the new steering wheel and dash!!

  12. Looks to be quite the improvement. Less minivan/soft CUV look, more Blazer and Tahoe vibes going on here. I like it.

  13. I think the Z71 trim looks even better than the RS

  14. so looks like a tahoe. and the shifter is now a stupid stalk you have to fiddle with? thats worse than the buttons… my god. come on GM what are you doing. you fix one thing break another. cure the ipad in the dash and ruin the shifter.

    amazing.

    Reply
    1. LOL Yet everyone before was complaining about the buttons and center console shifter and wanted the stalk… so pick your poison.

      Reply
      1. what? i like the buttons. and the people wanted the actual SHIFT LEVER we had in all previous trucks/suvs. you know, an actual lever, not a little wiper thing you have fiddle with. the good old metal rod you grab and cannot mistake for anything else, nor need to look at it… remember those? yeah.

but hey maybe now i cleared it up for you

        1. Having buttons/console shifter and column shifters cost’s GM a lot of money. It makes sense to consolidate to one, maybe two shifters at the most. getting rid of the console shifter frees up a lot of space and most people hated the buttons.

  15. Was critical of the camo’d test mule, but I have to now admit it’s a looker for sure! A nice design take off from the very successful Tahoe SUV. Should sell well for Chevrolet.

  16. Slow clap. Traverse has always been a homerun for Chev and I had high expectations. This is better than expected.

I would trade my F150 in for this. I do wish the towing capacity was 6000lbs, but I can live with 5.

  17. I like the exterior – as long as that C pillar doesn’t completely block the view from 3rd row. My kids won’t like that. My only other complaint would be the required interior red accents in the Z71 and RS trims. That alone would probably drive me to an LT from my current 2018 Premier, which we’ve been super happy with overall.

I’m waiting for the Acadia announcement before I decide to pull the trigger on either.

Lots of other info/shots now up on the Chevy website.

  18. I love it!! I can’t wait to see the luxury version (high country replacement). It looks like a baby Tahoe – now I am excited to see the Acadia.. if it looks like a baby Yukon I am down. I do dislike the 4cyl turbo engine though. Good job GM

    1. Chevy website only showing LS, LT, Z71, and RS. No High Country for now at least, which is disappointing. May have to go to Acadia, which I’m hoping is very similarly sized (seems like it should be).

      Reply
      1. I don’t think there is going to be a High Country which is very disappointing. Let’s hope the Acadia Denali provides the luxury option!

        Reply
      2. No Premier either. I don’t understand offering only black interiors.

        Reply
    2. No High Country, RS is the highest Trim in Chevy. Expect to see the premier trim to be dropped for the Blazer as well. Those are a low take rate. you can expect to see SLE, SLT, AT4 and Denali from GMC.

  19. The usual some good and some bad as with many newly introduced models lately. Why can’t the RS version have a two tone silver with black pocket wheel like the Trax and other models? Why change to a despised shifter? I do like the more rugged look overall and the interior, other than the dumb shifter, looks promising. Lets hope we get more colors other than black everything and the LT and Premier have some brightwork in the grille and side window sweeps like the current model and keep the all black wheels as an option and not force that as standard equipment.

    Reply
    1. Agreed, I love it except for the black wheels and 4 cylinder.

  20. At first glance, I thought it was a Tahoe. I’m not a huge fan of the split headlight/DRL…they are going to make everything look like the Blazer. I’m not in love with this, but it is way better than the outgoing Traverse. This truly is a baby Tahoe.

  21. Black evotex is the only non-cloth interior option on the LT. Premier is gone. Disappointed.

  22. I just checked out the GM website and can’t believe the interior seat colors!!! Wow no solid red for the RS or Z71? I think an all red option for the RS and Z71 versions would have been nice. Even a tan color. I do not like the all black interior seats with red strips only. I am truly shocked by this. Otherwise, like I said above I do like the redesign.

I am nervous about the GMC Acadia interior colors now 🙁

  23. I see a lot of comments with adjectives such as butch, aggressive, rugged, etc. This should make all those mall crawlers happy so they can load that one box into the back and haul it home at maybe 20 MPG and nobody else in the vehicle.

I can’t wait till gas prices spike once again and hopefully the next time it will get over $7/gal nationwide and never come down.

    1. @Dan B, I somewhat see what you are saying, but realize that there are a whole lot of poor folk out there who will suffer a lot more than those people you want to target. Don’t worry though, the Central Committee has already planned to make gas go over $7 per gallon in the next few years…your wish will come true. Palpatine Schwab will make sure your wish is granted.

  24. Might trade my 19 Nox Premier for one of these.
