2024 Chevy Tahoe: What We Know And Expect

Update: since writing this article, we have learned that the refreshed Chevy Tahoe will not launch for the 2024 model year. Instead, it will likely launch for the 2025 model year, so see what we expect from the 2025 Chevy Tahoe.

The 2024 Chevy Tahoe is set to introduce a mid-cycle refresh, dropping as the fourth model year for the fifth-generation full-size SUV. Naturally, the refresh will include a variety of important updates and changes, many of which GM Authority has already uncovered. Now, we’re putting it all together to tell you everything we know and expect from the refreshed 2024 Chevy Tahoe.

Exterior

Although the 2024 Chevy Tahoe will remain a full-size SUV, the exterior will be reworked with a new front fascia treatment. In addition, top trims like the High Country may offer a unique lighting treatment incorporating two-tiered headlights, while the rest of the lineup will run a more traditional headlight configuration similar to the pre-refresh models.

Further updates may be applied to the rear fascia, possibly with new taillight clusters as well. Up top, expect a new roof-mounted antenna fin, while in the corners, look for new 24-inch wheel options with greater availability.

Interior

The 2024 Chevy Tahoe will usher in an overhauled cabin space featuring a new, larger infotainment screen, as well as a revised center stack.

Powertrain

Three engine options will be on the table, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, as offered previously. Notably, the refreshed 2024 Chevy Tahoe is expected to introduce the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine to the lineup, replacing the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax offered previously. The new 2024 Tahoe Z71 may even offer the LZ0 diesel as optional, whereas previously, the Z71 did not offer the LM2 diesel due to the packaging constraints of the off-roader’s unique high-cut fascia.

All three engines will once again connect to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission, with both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive offered to put the power to the ground.

Platform

Under the body, the 2024 Chevy Tahoe will once again riding on the GM T1 platform.

Availability

The refreshed 2024 Chevy Tahoe will be sold in North America, the Middle East, and select export markets.

Production

Production of the refreshed SUV will take place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

  1. We can’t wait to see how many new, untested electronic gizmos this will have. GM has kept the goofy stuff coming. Just wait till one of these new ideas goes crazy. Have fun as a customer, to get them fixed. Bring back pre 1968. Then we all could again, work on them.

  2. Chevrolet need to put front fog lights in the Tahoe, All GMC Yukon’s have them , Both trucks are the same , Lets get it done
Chevrolet missed the boat all these years , I want to buy a 2024 or 2025, I won’t buy it with out them, I will buy Yukon instead.
Silverado has them and it’s the same truck.

    1. Haha, the reason you aren’t buying a vehicle is because it doesn’t offer fog lights? It doesn’t need them, they are pretty useless. That is one of the most petty reason I’ve heard for not buying something. Almost as bad as the guy who wouldn’t because they didn’t offer LED taillights. Thanks for that!

      1. And almost as bad as deciding how someone else should spend their money. If fog lights are important to him them they are important to him even if they are purely for aesthetics and he can decide to spend his money any way he chooses. Nothing petty about it. Same with the guy with the led or any other featute

    2. It turns out my 23 sierra Denali has fog lights, I didn’t realize it until I happened to see the reflection in a store window. They are strictly decorative; if you are driving the vehicle and switch them off and on, there is no discernible difference. Contrast that with my Mercedes, which has great fog lights which illuminate the road, not the fog, when you need it. I won’t be buying GM again if they drop Apple CarPlay. The Google system, which, fortunately I don’t have to use, is slow and glitchy.

  3. Please tell me the toggle transmission selector buttons on the IP are gone and GM has reverted back to the column shifter .

    Reply
    1. I’m good with either, anything is better than a floor shifter. Though I do prefer the column, the buttons can stay if it means going to a floor shifter. A shifter stalk is good, a compromise between a column and buttons I’m a fan of.

  4. Waiting to see if GM changes the waxy frame coating to something that actually lasts. Spend 90k + and have a truck with a rusty frame in 3 years. GM can do better!

    Reply
    1. Yes, they can, but they choose dollars over quality and customers consistently. Two brand new broken Engines with less than 15k miles. They could care less, wanted to keep known bad parts in the engines.

    2. Wax has lasted no problem, it actually soaks in to the metal and covers better. Frames haven’t been a problem. You don’t hear of frame failures at GM (though the others sure have with their painted frames), some surface rust sure but no failures. Nice try though, it’s worked why change it? You just trying to troll?

  5. The Monobrow light on grill is stupid looking…and people will confuse it with a F150 Lightning.

    Reply
    1. The only way people will confuse this with an F-150 is if it is stuck on the side of the road waiting for a battery truck to come along and save the day…

I don’t like the lighting setup in the rendering, but something along those lines would be cool. I’m fully expecting it to be like a large version of the ICE Blazer…LED DRL’s on top and headlights underneath. That way GM could have the Blazer Mini (Trax), the Blazer, Blazer Pro (Tahoe), and the Blazer Pro Max (Suburban).

  6. i actually like the buttons….

the column shifter isnt coming back. it will be some autistic mini lever like the wiper and you have to fiddle with it i bet.

  7. Larger screens. Check. Larger rims. Check. Goofy headlights and more blackout wheels and trim. Check. Same ol guzzling engines, wax rust bucket frames and grossly overpriced. Check. It’s hard to comprehend anybody paying 80 large for one of these things.

    1. Back when they first came out in 1995, a 4wd Tahoe LS started around $30,000…my aunt was one of the first people in our area to buy one. It was an LS 4wd with green/grey two-tone paint. Now, it turns my stomach to think that a new base Tahoe is in the $60k’s.

      Reply
      1. Same price. That $30,000 Tahoe in 1995 is $60,703.99 using the CPI inflation calculator. Technically however, LS in 1995 Tahoe was the middle trim, not the base trim.

        Reply
        1. except when you account for wages, that 60k becomes 120k in real money terms easy. what would the equivalent of 120k be in 1995? 60k? yep. imagine paying that back then… inflation calculators are just that, but have no merit for the earning power of the consumer

we are now in an economy for the 5-10%. the rest.. meh cope and cry. GM sells 20k of these per quarter atop the gmc and cadillac variants. that is plenty for them. my area is flooded with these damn things only driven by ugly fat unemployed old housewives burning their husbands money. dealers will beg you to buy a silverado for 8k off msrp around here but mention a tahoe/sub and they are like take what we have or gtfo! and dont even ask what it costs. just sign. ok next!

thats who GM makes and markets these for. few people who actually work for a living buy these.

  12. Faulty lifters, poor warranty and service packages in UAE and highly overpriced. I moved away from Tahoe after owning one from New in 2013 and moved to Ford instead.

  13. Dave: My son took delivery of his 2023 Colorado and it has a painted frame. As a Silverado owner I agree with you about the wax coatings.

  14. No thanks, I’ll buy a Toyota first. GM has been total crap since 2008, had a 2008 Silverado Truck, traded it in at 90K with a failing transmission and lifters going bad for fully loaded 2015 Tahoe Z71….what a pile of crap that was also. Paint peeling off, interior trim falling apart, electrical issues and the last straw was dashed cracked at 50K miles. Had it with GM garbage, I will never spend/waste another dime on GM junk. It’s dad because I have been a GM buyer for many years. Only thing left at my house that is GM and will leave is my 67 Camaro. I replaced the Tahoe with a Toyota Tundra, quality well built truck that drinks gas and can’t tow much but at least it’s not falling apart at 140,000 miles it never needed anything but normal maintenance/service.

    1. I work at a Toyota dealer. People love to compalin about certain brands and boast about others. You should see how many 2022 and 2023 Tundras are in our shop with blown engines, metal shavings in oil, oil pump failure, turbo failure (although it looks like thats fixed now), failing 10spd transmissions and poor fit and finish. I believe the current body style Tundra has over 10 recalls on it. The 1.5L, 2.4L and 2.7L is notorious for excessive oil consumption. Even the 1.8L consums a lot of oil for early 2000s models. Mid 2010s Camrys have garbage transmissions. Tacomas still rust like crazy. Every manufacturer has problems.

  18. I have a 2021 Silverado with the 2.7 Turbo. Ample power and torque for the average Joe, with 23 mpg combined after 40k miles. The efficiency of the motor is impressive. Great job GM. I highly recommend that this engine choice be added to the Tahoe lineup.

  20. My wife shut off the automatic braking on a 21 Tahoe high country. Got rear ended when it came on for no reason. Was no one in front of her. She will not drive it with it turned back on. There is video that she sent to GM. They said perfectly normal.
Unreal. Been driving Chevys for 45 years.
That’s a BS response. Not sure I’ll buy another.
