Now in its twelfth generation, the Chevy Suburban is poised to receive a refresh for the upcoming 2024 model year. Per tradition, the refreshed 2024 Chevy Suburban will introduce a wealth of updates and changes, including a new exterior, an overhauled cabin, and more. Now, GM Authority is providing a rundown on everything we know and expect from the forthcoming 2024 Chevy Suburban.
Exterior
Outside, the 2024 Chevy Suburban will once again offer a full-size SUV body style, with an extended wheelbase and longer overall length compared to the mechanically related Chevy Tahoe.
Like the refreshed Tahoe, the 2024 Chevy Suburban will present a new look with a revised front fascia. What’s more, top trims like the High Country may offer a unique two-tiered headlight treatment, helping it stand out from the rest of the lineup, the latter of which will run a more traditional configuration similar to the pre-refresh twelfth-gen Suburban. The rear of the 2024 Chevy Suburban will likely be updated as well, including the possibility of new taillight clusters.
Final touches will include a new roof-mounted antenna fin, plus new 24-inch wheel options with expanded availability.
Interior
Moving inside, the overhauled interior of the refreshed 2024 Chevy Suburban will show off a new, larger infotainment screen. The center stack will be revised as well.
Powertrain
As was the case previously, the 2024 Chevy Suburban will offer three engine options, including the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine. However, the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax offered previously will be replaced with the new 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine.
What’s more, the 2024 Chevy Suburban Z71 trim level may finally offer a diesel engine option. The Suburban Z71 previously did not offer the LM2 due to packaging constraints presented by the Z71’s unique high-cut fascia. The new 3.0L I6 LZ0 might fix this issue.
Either way, all three engines will connect to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive will both be offered.
Platform
Under the body, the 2024 Chevy Suburban will continue to ride on the GM T1 platform.
Availability
The refreshed 2024 Chevy Tahoe will be sold in North America, including the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as well as in the Middle East and select export markets.
Production
Production of the refreshed 2024 Chevy Suburban will once again take place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

Comments
Looking forward to seeing what the refreshed Suburban has in store.
It would be sweet to have a real resident GPS not linked to Google Maps. And shift paddles behind the wheel. At least for the Diesel, where manual shift is a good thing.
Thank goodness. I honestly never liked the dash display of the 21-23 models. The main display was just awful and tacky looking on the dash. Can’t wait to see what the new inside looks like. Love my 2020 suburban.
Sadly, it looks very cheap compared to Ford Expedition.
Aww, no 2.7 4-cyl??
Good. Keep it in work trucks discounted to fleets, and away from anything near the Suburban’s price class.
Bring back the comfort of the seats in the 2000 to 2006, beef up the lifters, get rid of Google and Alexa, and delete the fuel management system. 8 cylinders all of the time.
What they really need to do is put more features into the RST trim. It should come with all the goodies of the top trim levels.
Are they going add more cup holders? I couldn’t believe how much the suburban was lacking for moms/families in comparison to my honda pilot. And for the love of god…can i have the option to get the RST WITHOUT the red stitching!? Some people think it looks tacky and just want a sport look and not a racing look.
Does anyone know when this refreshed 2024 model will be available to purchase in the US?
It says earlier November 2023 ..
What’s the gas tank capacity for the model year 2024 ?
