The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD adds six new exterior colors to its palette: Auburn Metallic, Dark Ash Metallic, Slate Gray Metallic, Lakeshore Blue Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, and Radiant Red Tintcoat. Here’s our first look at the new Red hue.

Assigned RPO code GNT and touch-up paint code WA-170H, Radiant Red Tintcoat is one of ten exterior colors offered on the refreshed heavy-duty pickup truck, which include:

  • Black
  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
  • Summit White
  • Red Hot
  • Auburn Metallic (new for 2024)
  • Dark Ash Metallic (new for 2024)
  • Lakeshore Blue Metallic (new for 2024)
  • Radiant Red Tintcoat (new for 2024)
  • Slate Gray Metallic (new for 2024)
  • Sterling Gray Metallic (new for 2024)

The Radiant Red Tintcoat color is an extra-cost item that adds $495 to the truck’s price, and is only available on LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels. It cannot be combined with Jet Black/Graystone and Jet Black/Nightshift Blue interior colorways.

For reference, here are the five available interior colorways offered on the 2024 Silverado HD:

  • Jet Black (All trims except ZR2)
  • Jet Black/Graystone (ZR2 only)
  • Jet Black/Umber (High Country only)
  • Jet Black/Nightshift Blue (High Country only)
  • Gideon/Very Dark Atmosphere (LT, LTZ)

The refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado HD offers new exterior styling, an overhauled interior space, new tech features, and upgrades to the powertrain lineup, as well as the first-ever 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 heavy-duty off-roader and next-level 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 Bison. The ZR2 includes a selection of features improving the truck’s off-road capability beyond that of other trims, including increased ground clearance and improved traction on loose surfaces. The ZR2 Bison takes the heavy-duty pickup to the next level of off-road capability.

The trim level lineup for the 2024 Silverado HD includes Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country, plus ZR2 and ZR2 Bison. Customers can also opt for a wealth of packages and special edition models, including the Z71 Sport Edition, Z71 Chrome Sport Edition, Midnight Special Edition, and Alaskan Snow Plow Special Edition.

The exterior boasts a large new front fascia outfitted with revised headlamps featuring C-shaped LED lighting signatures shared with the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. The truck also incorporates a new grille design, new wheel and tire options, and tow hooks equipped as standard on all models.

LT trim levels and above get an overhauled cabin space equipped with an all-new 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen and 12.3-inch diagonal configurable driver information center.

Powerplants for the refreshed 2024 Silverado HD include the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine developing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque and equipped as standard. The 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine is optionally available, now with output boosted for the 2024 model-year refresh to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Both gasoline and diesel 2024 Silverado HD trucks are now paired with the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic, replacing the GM six-speed automatic for the gasoline engine.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is once again offered in 2500 HD and 3500 HD configurations, as well as Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab body styles. Silverado 3500 HD models also offer dual-rear-wheel configurations and trailering capacity up to 36,000 pounds, while max tow ratings for the Silverado 2500 HD increase from 18,510 to 22,500 pounds. The refreshed heavy-duty pickup truck rides on a more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform.

Production of the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is under way at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and the GM Oshawa plant in Canada. Production for the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 and ZR2 Bison is set to begin this summer.

The online configurator tool is live for the 2024 Silverado HD.

  1. I was looking at the front end of a new Silverado HD for a few minutes earlier today.
Didn’t have much choice since it was on the back of a car hauler that decided to pass four other trucks at 68 mph in a 75.
Anyway, I couldn’t believe how much better it looks now than when they first launched it with that horrible front end. Even in what must be a work truck trim with blocked out lights on the front, it didn’t look too bad.
