The refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado HD offers new exterior styling, an overhauled interior space, new tech features, and upgrades to the powertrain lineup, as well as the first-ever 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 heavy-duty off-roader and next-level 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 Bison. The ZR2 includes a selection of features improving the truck’s off-road capability beyond that of other trims, including increased ground clearance and improved traction on loose surfaces. The ZR2 Bison takes the heavy-duty pickup to the next level of off-road capability.
The trim level lineup for the 2024 Silverado HD includes Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country, plus ZR2 and ZR2 Bison. Customers can also opt for a wealth of packages and special edition models, including the Z71 Sport Edition, Z71 Chrome Sport Edition, Midnight Special Edition, and Alaskan Snow Plow Special Edition.
The exterior boasts a large new front fascia outfitted with revised headlamps featuring C-shaped LED lighting signatures shared with the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. The truck also incorporates a new grille design, new wheel and tire options, and tow hooks equipped as standard on all models.
LT trim levels and above get an overhauled cabin space equipped with an all-new 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen and 12.3-inch diagonal configurable driver information center.
Powerplants for the refreshed 2024 Silverado HD include the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine developing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque and equipped as standard. The 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine is optionally available, now with output boosted for the 2024 model-year refresh to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Both gasoline and diesel 2024 Silverado HD trucks are now paired with the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic, replacing the GM six-speed automatic for the gasoline engine.
The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is once again offered in 2500 HD and 3500 HD configurations, as well as Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab body styles. Silverado 3500 HD models also offer dual-rear-wheel configurations and trailering capacity up to 36,000 pounds, while max tow ratings for the Silverado 2500 HD increase from 18,510 to 22,500 pounds. The refreshed heavy-duty pickup truck rides on a more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform.
Production of the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is under way at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and the GM Oshawa plant in Canada. Production for the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 and ZR2 Bison is set to begin this summer.
The online configurator tool is live for the 2024 Silverado HD.

Even as a no extra cost item, I think that it still won’t move. I see this color truck sitting on lots waiting for the end of model run discounts, if not, sooner…
Lakeshore Blue Metallic??? Looks like dark blue to my poor eyes. Where do they get these names? Amazed that a color “…Metallic” is a no cost extra. These have been a +$500 extra.
I am intrigued by the interior color “Gideon/Very Dark Atmosphere”. What the hxxx is that? Guess I’ll need to do my research. Note the interior photo above sporting a column shifter. Hurray! Do you have to buy an “HD” to get one?
Looks like a flat blue color to me. Ugly ugly and more ugly!
dark, dark, dark , Jet black black black interiors. ever live in a southern state with 100 degree temps with black everything.
Very dull.
agreed, it looks like a flat blue. Who is the 3/4 blind person at GM that said, “Yes, lets sell this color”? They should be demoted to cleaning the toilets.
The old North Sky blue was much better.
The pictures look like the same as the computer generated one of the Chevrolet website, hope these are not pictures of the actual truck. Was chatting with Chevrolet online two days ago and they told me that the blue would not be available for ordering until late August. Have you heard something different?
Exterior looks like their Slate Grey and Nightshift Blue hues had a baby minus the metallic. Interior looks nice though.
Not sure why the hood needs to be almost 5 feet high. Engines aren’t any bigger than 40 years ago.
Due to the size of the radiators for cooling. The engine might not be physically bigger but the truck’s towing and cargo capacity is way higher than 40 years ago.
My 2020 Silverado with 6.6L engine is now burning oil 2 quarts at 5,000 mile oil change time. after 52K miles
GM only wants to build black or white trucks, more cost efficient. this 2024 blue color is easy on the eyes, will not show dirt like the darker colors. my ordered 2024 downpour blue gmc 3500 gas SLE crew cab will be built at flint in august, will pull my enclosed car trailer just fine with the new gas 10 speed allison, with the torque monster gas engine. purchased 35 inch 285/75-18 falken wildpeak at3 tires already. a northern midwest HD for a retired heavy equipment mechanic, life is good….
I placed my order in March for a Lakeshore Blue LTZ 2500HD Crewcab Longbed Silverado. I haven’t heard anything about when it’ll be built.
Lakeshore blue metallic has the same paint code as GMC’s downpour metallic, GXP. I am assuming its the same color, but it looks much better on the GMC configurator. GMC states that downpour metallic is a “late availability” color. L8T Dave, How long ago did you place your order?
ordered my crewcab around 6 weeks ago, my high volume gmc dealership gets quite a few ordering gm allotments because they sell so many of the popular high dollar 2024 trucks. my truck is a sle, not a big profit maker for a dealership.
The week after I ordered, my dealership called me and told me that Lakeshore Blue wasn’t available and they wanted to know if I wanted to order a different color. I told them I’d wait. I had no idea it would be this long.
featherburner— check with your dealer, the GXP lakeshore blue is now available for order, 8 days ago.
I have been trying to find out if the lakeshore blue or downpour metallic is available on the GMC AT4X AEV 3500 and cannot get a answer from anyone. If anyone knows please reply thanks
I’ve been waiting for the lakeshore metallic blue for 12 months since the dealership thought it would be alright to drive the 2023 model back from Michigan I’m not taking a truck with 600 miles and they were not going to give me a break on price . For what they are charging I want a vehicle with 10 or less miles . Every time they say my truck is going to be built they call me back and say no sorry it’s because of paint . Maybe you should buy a different color that’s out . No I want what I ordered
Ordered lakeshore blue metallic LTZ back in April, order was accepted 7/18/23, updated on 8/24/23 that status was 3300 and have a TPW of 9/11/23.
