General Motors has launched the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana in Colombia, almost simultaneously with the new Chevrolet compact pickup’s arrival in Ecuador, and following the model’s recent start of sales in Argentina.
The automaker announced the arrival of the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana in Colombia as part of the vehicle’s launch in main Latin American markets, where the totally reimagined third-generation Montana is already offered in some ten South American countries and will reach both Mexico as well as other countries in the region in the second half of the year. The Montana debuts a new and striking proposal as the brand’s entry-level pickup.
“The arrival of the new Chevrolet Montana in Colombia is great news for all those looking for a compact pickup with the advantages of an SUV,” said Commercial Director at GM Colombia, Juliana López. “The Chevrolet Montana combines the comfort, connectivity, and safety of an SUV with the space and benefits of a pickup. We are creating a new segment and delivering a unique experience for Colombian consumers,” she added.
As in Argentina, the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana launched in Colombia with the two distinctive LTZ and Premier trim levels, and configured with the same powertrain. Both come standard with a range of technology and safety features that is outstanding in its segment, differing in styling aspects with a glossy finish for the LTZ and a darkened finish for the Premier, as well as their own interior presentations.
Mechanically, the two versions of the 2024 Chevy Montana for the Colombian market are powered by the turbocharged 1.2L I3 engine that produces 132 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque, exclusively mated to a six-speed automatic transmission – unlike Brazil and other countries where it is also offered with a manual transmission. The new Montana comes standard with front-wheel drive internationally.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Montana has been available for sale for a few weeks in the Chevrolet dealer network in Colombia, where it expands the brand’s portfolio as the most versatile compact pickup on the market. The units, which are imported from the GM São Caetano do Sul plant, are offered with six body color options and a wide range of accessories. Here is Montana pricing in Colombia:
- 2024 Montana LTZ: 115,720,000 pesos (about $29,760 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2024 Montana Premier: 119,220,000 pesos ($30,660 USD)

How much does it cost to import?
WHEN WILL GM BRING BACK THE S10 and SONOMA ??
Not soon enough but it needs at least 300 hp to get our attention! Tomg
The 4.3 was plenty !! But if it came back, you know it’ll be a smaller engine 😉
We’ve had 7 in the family over 20 years (in addition to full size); hard to believe it’s been almost 20 since GM stopped making them.
Great utility vehicle for getting around town, occasional dump runs, light camping trips, and of course the daily driver!
The 2nd gen Canyons and Colorados are as big as my old 99 Silvy. and then the discussion of cost comes into play. Same can be said for the S10s / Sonomas ! To each his own on what works for them.
What doesn’t work is GM not having a small truck; look at Ford – they kept the Ranger for 8 more years after GM stopped production. Then, after a hiatus, the Ford Maverick entered the market (I remember the car!!).
GM needs to puts out a 3rd gen S series to compete with the Maverick, but I’m still hoping…
If they were to do a Maverick competitor it would share little with the S10. No full frame, FWD based, Smaller bed, smaller interior. 3 Cylinder engine.
You are not going to get a repeat of the old truck as the original S10 was based on A body sedan parts for the most part. They do not make a RWD sedan anymore to do so.
As for the 4.3 It was big, heavy and rough. at best around town with 193 HP it only got 19 MPG. Today the 3.6 gets 21 MPG lugging 4550 pounds around with 308 HP.
The ranger was sold with the first Gen Colorado that was still small and similar in size. But neither set sales records and is why they both left.
Profit also are difficult with a true truck as scale is small and they share little with other models. This is why the MFGs are pushing the unibody crap on you with FWD as its a cheap Escape under that shell.
You can’t tow much and you can haul much in a Maverick. What is it good for?
This is a small segment and as more ender the slice of the pie will get smaller for each.
I owned both and I also know if sold today they would be more than you would want to pay.
My last Sonoma was almost $25K in 1997. The 193 HP 4.3 got 2 MPG less than my present Canyon 308 HP 3.6 that also is 4×4 and crew where the Sonoma was only a extended cab and 2×4.
This would sell in NA just like the new Trax . Its too bad GM has not figured out a way to build/ sell this product here !!!
This matches up poorly to the Maverick and Hyundai.
Needs a larger engine and a little more bed. Even the Colorado had to be redone to come here as if it were sold like it was in Australia it would have failed.
You really need to take a look at what this really is.
Looks good. Crappy 3 cylinder engine. I’d be very positive about the engine if it got outstanding MPGs. But , it doesn’t!
