2024 Chevy Camaro SS 1LE In Nitro Yellow Metallic: First Images

The 2024 Chevy Camaro is the last model year for the sixth-gen sports car, ushering in a selection of updates and changes compared to the 2023 model year. Among these changes is a revamped exterior paint options list. Now, we’re getting our first look at the 2024 Chevy Camaro in a new shade dubbed Nitro Yellow Metallic.

The 2024 Chevy Camaro SS 1LE In Nitro Yellow Metallic paint.

Draped in Nitro Yellow Metallic (paint code GCP), this 2024 Chevy Camaro SS 1LE looks fantastic, with the bright yellow color offset by matte black on the hood, the sideview mirrors, and the aero components.

These photos were posted to social media by Atom Barry, who claims to be a member of the GM Design team. Barry also mentions that this particular 2024 Chevy Camaro was on display at the Camarofest event in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Nitro Yellow Metallic is one of two new exterior paint options offered for the Chevy Camaro’s 2024 model year, the other of which is Riptide Blue Metallic (paint code GJV). The 2024 Chevy Camaro also deletes two colors offered previously, specifically Shadow Gray Metallic (paint code GJI) and Rapid Blue (paint code GMO), while two additional paint colors are available via the new 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector’s Edition, specifically Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat (paint code GLK) and Panther Black Matte (paint code GNW). The rest of the paint options list for the 2024 model year includes:

  • Black (GBA)
  • Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
  • Red Hot (G7C)
  • Riverside Blue Metallic (GKK)
  • Sharkskin Metallic (GXD)
  • Summit White (GAZ)
  • Vivid Orange Metallic (GCF)

Production of the 2024 Chevy Camaro is set to begin on August 7th, 2023 at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan, as GM Authority covered previously. Under the hood, the Chevy Camaro features the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1 gasoline engine, and the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine. The GM Alpha platform provides the underpinnings.

  1. Sure, looks good but I’ll wait till I can see it in person before I pass judgement on the color.

    1. Always seems a little different in person. But at this point it reminds me of War Bonnet Yellow from ’71-’72 Corvettes. That’s a good thing.

      1. Yeah, the War Bonnet Yellow looks to be a touch more gold. I would have rather seen a metallic corvette yellow or metallic Accelerate Yellow.

  2. They’re all beautiful. Adopt all the Camaros!
I’m going to run a Camaro rescue someday.
And outgoing Camaro is still better than incoming Musktang…(intentional spelling)

  3. Looks good for those that like loud colors. I have such mixed feelings about the 6th gen, which is just chock full of “should have done this” scenarios. The engineers need a raise, whoever approved the final design and ergonomics shouldn’t have that position any longer.

    1. You’ll LOVE the new Musktang I’m sure.
      Hahaa. Great design there….?

      1. I do. They checked all the boxes and gave customers exactly what they wanted. Only miss is the MT-82. If GM didn’t take a 5th gen and just add more cartoon people would lust after it too.

You don’t have to have this “I like Chevy so I can’t like Ford” attitude. That’s some first grade bs that will only hurt your soul man.

        1. I’m a lover not a hater. I’ve driven all of them. I’ve spent a lot of time in both shops – in manufacturing. I know what I love. I love the dang Camaros. All of them! I used to like some Mustangs.. but I do not like the new Musktang! Minivan screens and big cartoon nose. They’ve tried to do a Hyundai-esque morphing of the competition to take beautiful Camaro features into/onto the Musktang and have failed miserably. And you still have to hand-latch the ragtops… And no boot cover and the round top. Take the time to actually drive a 6th gen Camaro dude instead of reading the toilet mags. And you will be set free.

And to Realist: The reality is they can name an EV a Camaro but it will never be a Camaro.
          Peace. Love. Camaro.

          1. I love the camaro for it’s hardware. I’ve sat in it and the visibility is an issue. I can’t even open the side window and stick my arm out. Tiny trunk opening, styling is a bit cartoonish and childish. Something I would be slightly embarrassed to drive in to a customers site. Mustang is more mature looking inside and out.

So my rags are not things I read in a magazine. They are how it fits my life. I know the Camaro drives great.

I can also fit two kids in a Mustang and I can only fit 1 in the Camaro as the backseat is even smaller. As a father of two, being able to share it with the children is important to me.

            1. I know a share of it is personal preference, but dude, This whole visibility thing always feels made up to me. I’ve owned two gen 6 camaros and have a third one on order. I have sat in, test drove, and rented the current mustangs. Visibilty and interior room are just not that much different between the two. I think it’s something stang owners try to throw in because it’s a purely subjective peg to hang their hat on.

Another thing: to call the extereor styling of the camaro childish while calling the mustang more mature looking is REALLY telling since any objective open minded person can see that ford liked the Camaros exterior styling so much that they pretty much duplicated it for the incoming MY2024 mustang generation. It’s the classic move of copying the other kids answers but changing a couple to not totally look like they were cheating on the test. Only Ford still ended up screwing up the final product.

There are things to like about the mustang, but having driven the two, the mustang is ground chuck to the camaros’ T-Bone, especially when you consider the Camaros’ far superior driving Dynamics.

              1. Exquisitely stated Philip.
“I sat in one once..and visibility is a real issue..”. Yet the same family drives around in a minivan with midrow buckets, two child seats, rear seat entertainment screens on bright (at night) and rear seat headrests all impeding rearward visibility. Can they seat out the back? Can they see much through the right side windows to do head-check lane checks? No not really. Maybe they rely on the mirrors and the technology. I would contest in that comparison, the Camaro is not worse and yet has the same blind spot awareness technologies. One reviewer said it – one magazine wrote it and everyone repeats it. Except those that drive em…

              2. They took some elements from the 6th gen and that doesn’t turn the whole car into a cartoon. They took what worked and left the rest. The tiny windows besides being hard to see out of are what make it silly looking. Styling only gets worse the higher up the trim levels. Zl1 looks like a hot wheels and that is not a complement. LT1 RS are the best looking of the bunch as was a loaded v6 rs from 2016-2018. They look like a cartoon.

Yes, the camaro driving dynamics are better and that’s their appeal. Comes down to the Camaro is 70% what I want and the Mustang is 85%.

  4. Looks like it might be a neat color, but I don’t think it fits the Camaro. It’s an eccentric color, but isn’t bold. In my opinion, if you are going to use a niche color, it should be bold and loud (think Shock, Krypton Green, Orange Crush).

This color looks better on the Colorado ZR2 in my opinion.

  5. Sorry but I just don’t like it. Maybe the pictures don’t do it justice but everything inside of me says go with the orange crush instead.

  6. GMA, it seems the 2024 Camaro paint list is inaccurate. You’ve previously reported that GMO Rapid Blue and GKK Riverside blue are discontinued in Camaro and Nitro and Riptide blue are new. Also Camaro Fest was this previous weekend. Peace.

  7. Talk about leaving a vehicle out to pasture. And the best they can do is new paint color schemes???? Surely there has to be some surprise final edition that will have more power before this model bows out.

    1. GM doesn’t spend R&D money on special edition / limited run powertrain configurations, but they will do sticker packages and emblems.

      This is the way.

  9. Too little, too late. I like yellow, I had an 88 Fiero Formula in yellow! If only GM would have updated the sixth generation in 22, it wouldn’t have taken alot of resources. They just gave up, the Corvette got all the attention in 2020. GM always is behind the competitors. Dodge has kept the Challenger and Charger relevant since 2008 with minor updates to drivetrains. Late with updates, with fewer divisions there’s no reason this should be an excuse to play catchup. I hope we don’t put all our eggs in one basket, EV adoption is going to take time. Americans still love ICE vehicles! Making huge investments in battery facilities is risky, when technology will change sooner than later. But, battery availability seems to be the latest problem for keeping the EV production on schedule. No doubt it’s a difficult balancing act. I just wish the Camaro had been updated, so they could still build it at Lansing with the Cadillac CT4 and CT5. They will be available for the foreseeable future with an update in 2025 and maximize production at that factory. GM is focused on EV’s and updates on current vehicles are falling behind schedule. Sales are good, so nothing will change. It could be better with a little planning, Ford is wounded and GM should be taking advantage.

    1. Although it does have a gold hint to it, the color has more bright yellow in it than you can see here….in full sun the color is brighter….this pic is obviously taken in a cloudy or overcast day. This color isn’t my favorite, so I don’t mind it being a 1 model year only color……but decades from now it will be desirable to collectors.

    2. I’d guess you missed the design committee meeting where they finalized that look back in 2013, or so.

In the GM world, greenhouse shapes don’t get touched in MCEs. This is the way.

  11. Come on, man. Rally Yellow was yellow. GM has wandered off with some weird yellows as of late. Either too pale, too much green, or “yellows” that are only vaguely yellow. Like this one. Even the Corvette suffers from an ugly yellow. This is subjective of course. Lol.

  13. The visibility issue is overblown. After reading magazine and internet reviews about that topic , I test drove a 2023 Camaro convertible. Findings:
All of my C3 Corvettes were worse. My 1982 Mustang GT was worse and 2008 Mustang Bullitt about the same. I’m a 72 year old man who’s comfortable with being on the shorter side. Saw right over the new Camaro double instrument pods and could comfortably judge the front fenders and side windows.
Liked the Camaro 6 so much that I have a 2024 2SS Convertible on order with, of course, a MANUAL TRANS.
BTW, the 2024 being the last ICE version will always be worth more than any future electric “Camaro”. Try and beat that.

    1. Does the convertible have better visibility top up, than the coupe? Personally I like coupes more and have never looked at the convertible much.

Some may think I just want to rag on the car. I genuinely want to want this car. It’s everything I want hardware wise and it makes me angry they made some very poor choices on ergonomics and etc.

      1. No one cares what you think. You come on here citing your likes and dislikes and have no actual data-driven commentary. Then you call people names and insult their intelligence when their opinion differs from your likes and dislikes. You’re not buying a Camaro anyhow. You come on here to nix all GM vehicles because you’re regretting buying your Ford F100.

on the rag is right. Like F-body said above, about the visibility myth, you all drive around in your minivans and cuv’s with high back seats and kids and all of their toys and their’ tablets blazing and can’t see out anyhow.

Then you “sat in one once” and complain… haha. please just stop. where is FordAuthority?
