2024 Chevy Camaro Loses Lowered Suspension And Sway Bar Options

The 2024 Chevy Camaro is the final model year for the current sixth-generation sports car, and unsurprisingly, it’s already dropping several of the options offered previously. That includes two specific suspension upgrades, specifically the lowered suspension package and the sway bar package. Both options are no longer available to order for the 2023 Chevy Camaro, either.

The Lowering Suspension Upgrade System for the 2023 Chevy Camaro, tagged with RPO code SG3.

To be more specific, the options in question are called the Lowering Suspension Upgrade System, tagged with RPO code SG3, and the Sway Bar Suspension Upgrade System, tagged with RPO code SC1. Both upgrades were available as LPO-level options, which means they were installed by the dealer, rather than at the factory when the vehicle was initially produced. Both options have been discontinued following the termination of the 2023 model year, and in addition, both are no longer available to order for the 2023 Chevy Camaro.

The Lowering Suspension Upgrade System was offered as optional on 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, and 2SS Coupes. The package was not offered on the base 1LS or the range-topping ZL1 Coupe. The package was also optional for LT1, 1SS, and 2SS Convertibles, but was not offered on 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, or ZL1 Convertibles. Pricing was set at $2,195.

Meanwhile, the Sway Bar Suspension Upgrade System was optional on LT1, 1SS, and 2SS Coupes, but was not offered for 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, or ZL1 Coupes. The Sway Bar Suspension Upgrade System was also not offered for the Convertible body style. Pricing was set at $895.

Further updates for the 2024 Chevy Camaro include the discontinuation of the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG gasoline engine option, discontinuation of the base 1LS trim level, and discontinuation of the 20-inch Caliente wheels (RPO code 57V).

However, the 2024 Chevy Camaro will offer several special edition models, including the Collector’s Edition, as well as the ZL1 Garage 56 Edition, both of which will incorporate unique content. Under the body panels, the sixth-gen Chevy Camaro rides on the GM Alpha platform, while production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.

  1. So, what’s next NO DOORS or maybe the HOODS. No let’s not give the buyer and options just take what we give you.

  2. Camaro, allowed to bleed out. Sad.

  3. And GM will say Camaro orders and sales are down to justify the discontinuance. Kind of a self fulfilling prophesy..

  4. Glad we bought my now 22 year old son a new 2017 Garnet Red Tint Coat Camaro 1LT RS, V6, A8, with sunroof in 2018. With rebates and discounts got $6200 off sticker (remember those days?). Dealer in NE MS went to AR to get the transfer to get the color and equipment we wanted. He now only has 23K on it. Great car. Hope he can keep it a lifetime as his first new car. Sad to see Camaro go again. A 1979 Z28 was also the first new car I ever special ordered & bought when I got my first job.

  5. It’s actually no big loss. What is a big loss is how GM allowed the Camaro to fade into obscurity by refusing to advertise the vehicle appropriately and make people excited for it. Just look at all of the Dodge commercials for the Challenger. You can’t even turn on your tv without seeing 3-4 in a 10 minute period. Also, they have made dozens of variations of the vehicle WITH actual performance upgrades (T/A, Super Stock, 1320, Redeye, Black Ghost, Swinger, Demon, etc.). The same with Ford. The Mustang has had many special variations WITH performance upgrades (Mach 1, BOSS, Bullitt, Dark Horse, GT350, etc.). What do we GM fans get? Sticker and wheel packages that cost $4-5k more.

Barra’s unlimited supply of boring and anemic CUV’s and EV’s do nothing for me. I hope they’re happy.

I am a GM guy through and through that enjoys purchasing late model GM vehicles (current owner of both a Camaro SS and C7 GS) and modifying them myself. Purchasing mods and installing them yourself is part of the fun. I have a full Hotchkis TVS Race Suspension installed on my SS and I’d bet it cost much less than this set-up from GM and outperforms it hands down.

  6. Mary and the bean counter committee folks killed the ‘F’ body, and limit the RPO’s on the way out.
Sad, I still love my old ’86 Z-28 IROC, and will keep it till I choke and puke.

  7. You know it’s funning to me that in Nascar the Camaro is the winningest car out there. But yet they want to get reed of it . I don’t believe the car is not making them money. They want to do away with it so they can build and electric car. If you keep cutting out what you can get on the car you may as well stop building them now. I ordered a new 2022 2ss in Dec. 2023 after 5 months of waiting for the car they call me up and said I can’t get the 2ss. I am 72 years old have owned GM products all my life this didn’t set well with me.

  8. I pretty much agree with all the posts that there was no real support for the Camaro. And the site to build and price the 2024 Camaro is still not available. So, how is that supposed to help sales? I purchased my 2010 in 2009 and I picked it up on Christmas Eve and it was the highlight of my life. Now, I’m trying to buy one last 2024 Camaro, but it’s so very frustrating. What happened to all the cool car guys that had input for the process and design? Thank you.

    1. With Mary Berra and crew General Motors has become woke I’m a huge Camaro and Corvette fan but now I’m starting to think to look overseas for my next ones vehicles that is all this all electric is a total turn off my understanding is 88% of the population doesn’t want one typical of the government forcing it down our throat bet the people doing this are heavily invested in the electric vehicle platforms I always say it’s all about the money honey sad but true
