The 2023 Buick Envision is third model year of the nameplate’s second generation and the last before the upcoming mid-cycle refresh introduced by the 2024 Buick Envision.
Now, GM Authority has learned that the Sapphire Metallic (color code GGC) exterior paint color is built out for the remainder of the model year and no longer available to order on the 2023 Buick Envision.
Originally introduced on the Envision for the 2022 model year, it’s currently unclear if Sapphire Metallic will return for the 2024 model year, though it seems likely GM will replace it with a new tint.
On the 2023 Buick Envision the hue was available on all trim levels, costing an extra $495 for the Preferred and Essence trims and available as no-charge option on the Avenir trim.
Sapphire Metallic was initially one of seven paint colors available for the 2023 Buick Envision (relevant color code in parenthesis):
- Cinnabar Metallic (GEJ)
- Ebony Twilight Metallic (GB8)
- Moonstone Gray Metallic (GZA)
- Rich Garnet Metallic (G4Q)
- Sapphire Metallic (GGH)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- White Frost Tricoat (GE8)
As a reminder, the 2023 Buick Envision is motivated by a single powerplant choice, the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine developing 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Output is sent to the front wheels as standard via the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, while AWD is available as an option.
The refreshed 2024 Buick Envision features a new exterior – likely including new paint colors along with some current hues dropped from the palette – and a new interior. The refreshed design includes styling elements from the Buick Wildcat EV and boasts a new front fascia, hood with Buick’s new Tri-Shield logo prominently displayed, and multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside, the 2024 Envision features a fully digital display extending across the dash, a three-spoke, multi-function steering wheel and technology that includes the GM Super Cruise system. The refreshed crossover will be Buick’s first North American model to feature Super Cruise, with the system accessible to users for driving on over than 400,000 miles of roads throughout the U.S. and Canada.
As for structure, the Envision rides on the GM E2 platform, with production taking place exclusively at the GM Jinqiao plant in Shanghai, China. Production for the refreshed 2024 model year will begin in late October, as revealed in a GM Authority exclusive.
