Dealer retrofits are now under way for the 2022 Cadillac Escalade and 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV regarding the missing park assist feature that was unavailable at the time of production because of the microchip shortage, per a recent GM customer satisfaction program notice.
GM revised Customer Satisfaction Program N222375790 to include more vehicles now eligible for park assist retrofits, including the 2022 Cadillac Escalade and ESV.
Front and Rear Park Assist (RPO code UD5) was normally standard on the Luxury trim of the Cadillac Escalade. For the 2022 model year, the feature was under constraint and unavailable on Escalade and Escalade ESV units from the Luxury trim produced between January 24th and April 10th, 2022.
Affected vehicles are indicated as such by RPO code 00Z on the window sticker. All other trim levels of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV other than Luxury were unaffected by the constraint. This is because these trims were all equipped with Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist (RPO code UKZ), which wasn’t under constraint.
Other vehicles from the Cadillac brand were also subject to limited availability of park assist. These include the Cadillac CT4, the CT4-V, the CT4-V Blackwing, the Cadillac CT5, the CT5-V, and the CT5-V Blackwing. The features constrained and the dates of production during which vehicles were built without functional park assist vary by model and trim level.
The retrofit activating the park assist feature in the 2022 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV involves dealership service personnel replacing the park assist control module and setting up the serial data gateway module with the correct settings. The retrofit program is available free of charge to owners of affected vehicles through July 31st, 2026.
Buyers of affected 2022 Escalade SUVs were notified of the non-functional park assist feature, and the possibility of a future retrofit, at the time of purchase.
