Following the recent official launch of the all-new Buick Electra E5 in China, Buick‘s new family of all-electric Electra crossovers will begin to grow with the imminent arrival of the Buick Electra E4 – which will debut very soon in China.
Several sources familiar with the matter have just disclosed that General Motors’ SAIC-GM joint venture in China will officially reveal the upcoming Buick Electra E4 this month during a special event in the city of Shanghai, five months after the zero-emissions crossover was fully leaked in early 2023. Specifically, sources claim that the Electra E4 will debut on Monday, June 19th.
This unofficial information coincides with the plans previously announced by SAIC-GM, which in November 2022 announced that the upcoming Buick Electra E4 would debut in the middle of this year as the Tri-Shield brand’s second next-generation EV in the Chinese market. In fact, the Electra E4 is both the second member of the new Electra model family and the brand’s second vehicle based on GM’s Ultium architecture.
In particular, the upcoming Buick Electra E4 represents the production version of the Buick Electra-X Concept unveiled in the middle of last year, as GM Authority exclusively reported before the model was first caught on public roads and leaked in the media. As such, the Electra E4 retains the overall shape of the concept and the unique design features that make it stand out with its dynamic proportions and aggressive front fascia.
As indicated by its nameplate, the upcoming Buick Electra E4 will slot below the Buick Electra E5 with a slightly shorter body than its big brother, measuring 189.7 inches long, 75.3 inches wide and 62.2 inches tall. Meanwhile, the Electra E4’s wheelbase is 116.3 inches, identical to what the Electra E5 shares with the all-new Chevy Equinox EV.
It’s expected that the upcoming Buick Electra E4 will officially debut on June 19th and go on sale shortly after in China, where it will be manufactured as an exclusive model for the domestic Chinese market. In addition to the base front-wheel drivetrain and single-motor powertrain with an output of 180 kW or 241 horsepower, the Electra E4 will also offer two-motor AWD variants generating 211 kW or 283 horsepower.

AS BUICK IS CHINESE . IT WILL BE A FULL SUCCESS!
Would you say Cadillac is Chinese, too? Cadillac’s biggest market is now China and there are several models that China gets that Cadillac in the USA will not.
My opinion is that Buick (and Cadillac) are great American brands, with long and important automotive heritages.
CADILLAC IS HALF CHINES HALF USA 50 % 50 %
you mean, Buick & Cadillac WERE Great North American Brands … on the 1980ies … oh yeah …
They are joint owned only in China just like all other foriegn automakers except newcomer Tesla. VW, Toyota, Ford, Stellantis all have the same deal.
GM makes decent cash on China, can use them for cheap r&d.
Would you prefer GM only sell in US and end up bankrupt again? They are re-entering Europe with EVs but are benefiting for Asian profits while they last. It works better than selling last generation models in hyper competitive Latin America, too
Don’t try to reason with the unhinged boomers on here. They can’t even figure out how to turn caps lock off.
yes, for me is ok GM non-existent… see, some 16 years ago went from Munich to Frankfurt for a GM Saic Interview, they paid me € 100 for travel expenses. At that time GM USA Directors were transferring their Production and Tooling to Shanghai, so if has a someone fault THIS FAULT is NORTH AMERICA PEOPLE themselves
This would be a great Encore EV. Buick is getting too wordy: Buick Electra E 4 Avenir is a mouthful! Dropping the E would be smart since the meaning of Electra is pretty obvious these days
do not agree … great EVs are inexistent … indeed having to hanging out with those recharge cables some hours is really very primitive comparing fulling the tank in couple minutes
Glad to see Buick-China have found the styling of the 2012 Mazda CX9 so attractive that they decided to recycle it.
Bland and ugly.
2012 Mazda CX9 is much more interesting as car, AT LEAST HAD 90 % Exterior Design Correct ! This otherwise is another car, maybe you consult an oculist to see if your glasses need change Mr. Magoo
This Buick Electra E4 looks NOTHING like a 2012 Mazda CX-9.

Christopher, your non-stop defending of anything Buick is getting sad. If you don’t look at this bland pie in the sky excuse for a Buick and see a 2012 Mazda CX9, they you need help.
Dan, I think there needs to be some balance with all the negativity typically shown against Buick on this site, including from you. I don’t think the Electra E4 is bland, certainly not the Electra-X Concept and its distinctive wheels and suspect the production E4 will look better in a different color and with different wheels. Lastly, I have never insulted you personally or said “you need help.”
That’s almost sexy.
Great looking car. Wish we had it here… as a full hybrid. Would give the new Prius some competition.
