Upcoming 2025 Chevy Equinox Leaked In China

GM Authority first captured a prototype of the next-generation Chevy Equinox undergoing testing last September, and we’ve been closely following the development of the model in the United States. Now, the upcoming 2025 Chevy Equinox has just been completely leaked in China.

The Asian country’s authorities have published the official future product statement of SAIC-GM’s upcoming and fully redesigned 2025 Chevy Equinox, scooping the exterior design and main features of Chevrolet‘s new compact crossover before its world debut. This could indicate that the fourth-generation Equinox will be officially unveiled later this year.

The upcoming 2025 Chevy Equinox leak includes real-world exterior photos of the model, some technical specifications and powertrain data, as is customary in official records released by the Chinese government. For starters, the next-generation Equinox will grow slightly at 183.2 inches long, 74.9 inches wide and 67.4 inches tall, while riding on an almost-identical 107.5-inch wheelbase compared to the current generation.

Aesthetically, the upcoming 2025 Chevy Equinox features an all-new exterior design with a raised stance and muscular lines for added presence. The front adopts a large grille with a prominent horizontal bar, which connects the top of the split headlamps and does not include the boomerang shapes at each ends, as we’ve seen on other recently introduced Chevrolet models. Overall, it has a much more robust front end and evolves from the brand’s design language.

Bold trapezoidal wheel arches, a rising beltline and a shark-fin C-pillar define the sides of the 2025 Chevy Equinox, shown here in a seemingly base trim level with 17-inch wheels and no roof rails. Meanwhile, the rear end also boasts a rugged look punctuated by slim, high-positioned and L-shaped taillamps, as well as a sharply-creased liftgate.

The upcoming 2025 Chevy Equinox will be equipped with at least two Chinese-market powertrains, including a base 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 132 kW or 177 horsepower for base variants like the one in this leak. In both China and North America, the next-generation Equinox is expected to debut later this year or in early 2024.

  1. The design is modern and up to date, while being a bit tame in my opinion. The new Trax shows the way.

    1. Agreed. It may look a bit more progressive in up-level trims and wheels…

    2. This is the segment that’s pushing out sedans, so tame is to be expected. There’s Buick and GMC for more bold takes on this class of car.

  2. This is…. something

  3. It looks really boring. But it looks better than the current generation of weak and feminine Equinox.

    1. …and the most cringe comment award goes to you!

  4. My understanding is that the 2025 Equinox is getting the Activ trim treatment. I think that look is going to work really well on this design.

I really like Chevy’s design language these days.

  5. So-so. Too rugged looking for my taste.

  6. I can get used to the front end. the rear end isn’t bad i’m not sure what that f1 style light is at the bottom. however the rear quarter looks odd. the upwards swoop on the rear doors combined with the floating roof design looks kinda bad.

  7. Kinda looks like the current explorer . Interesting.

  8. Looks a little like the South American tracker. Hopefully we can get the 2 liter back and be able to tow 4,000 lbs. with all the standard safety features with out being nickel and dimed with package upgrades to get them. My 2018 nox with the 2 liter has been a great problem free suv.

    1. Unfortunately that’s not going to happen, I seriously doubt they will offer the 2.0L turbo in the upcoming Nox. This is Mary Barra’s lower case gm, remember? I bet they’ll even slap in the 1.3l turbo for good measure as a base engine.

      1. It has nothing to do with lower case GM or Mary. It all goes back to emissions, not corporate decisions. The standards are too strict to allow for a more powerful variant. Even the 2.0 used by Cadillac and Buick have less power than just a few years ago. If you want power, unfortunately you are going to have to get an EV.

  9. Looks pretty good. I hope the LT and Premier trims have body color mirrors and at least a little brightwork in the grille or door sills to make them look less cheap. Leave the cheap overdone black plastic look for the Active models. Hopefully they at least make the 1.5 more powerful or offer a higher output version.

  10. It looks certainly better than the CR-V and Rav4 for sure. Almost matching Sportage. I do like the Blazer EV look on the back end for sure. Guess just have to see how the GMC Terrain looks.

  11. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. I’ll reserve judgement until we learn what the powertrain options are…

  12. Bring back the 250 horse 2 L motor. Otherwise its a boring ride.

    1. No amount of motor will make this anything but a boring ride, it is a compact CUV, that is the wrong customer base looking for exciting…

  13. Well……it looks better than the current one.
But that damned floating roof BS.

    God, that HAS to end!!

  14. Seems I am in the minority here that doesn’t really care for it and prefer the last gen. Maybe I need to see this is a more uplevel trim though. Base levels always look terrible to me.

The front grille doesn’t look very refined in my opinion, very cheap looking. And it seems to sit way too tall, like too much clearance in the wheel wells.

Overall disappointing considering how great the current Trax looks. Doesn’t fit with the family at all.

  15. So it’s adopted the Blazer/Trax/Trailblazer styling. No surprises.

  16. I would definitely consider one of these with a 2.7-liter turbo, 9-speed AWD for around $40-$45K.

  17. It looks much better than the current model. I hope the interior is not cheap looking and they give it enough power.

  18. That is the worst looking Equinox in quite a while. The back quarter looks like the old Terrain. And what is with those gun turret like things on the front outside edges! The whole thing looks like it is on steroids!

  19. The Kia Telluride is one of the ugliest SUVs there is on the market right now. However, Car and Driver give it a full 10 from day one. This 2025 Equinox is definitely better looking than that Kia monstrosity or the segment’s great selling Rav-4 or highly rated CR-V.

My point. If this 2025 Equinox had a Kia or Toyota stamp on it, most of you would saying how great it’s going to be. Wow! All GM needs to do is increase the power on the 1.5 turbo and offer the 2.0 turbo as an option, with at least 235 horsepower.

  20. The side profile is a mash-up of styling elements that do not relate to each other. There’s no cohesiveness to the design, just this piece and that curve and the other shape. The front end looks like it had major dental work and is still swollen from the surgery. What a mess.

  21. The current Equinox length is 183.1…. I’m not sure I’ll be able to tell that .1″ in the length with the 2025…..lol.

  22. I’m glad hubby just purchased (2) 2024 Equinox LT’s for us (he bought me Pearl and he chose Sterling Gray. Both have the lighter 2 tone interior 👍🏻. Not impressed with the look of the 2025.
