General Motors officially revealed the 2023 GMC Canyon last August, debuting an all-new third generation for the midsize pickup nameplate. Just like with previous model years, the 2023 GMC Canyon offers several options for off-roading enthusiasts to indulge in, including the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 cabin in the following hands-on interior tour video.
Hosted by GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft, the video is 10 minutes long and covers all the important aspects of the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 interior from a first-person perspective.
The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 is available with both cloth and leather upholstery for the seats, while the colorway seen here is Jet Black with Timber, the latter of which references the brown accent upholstery found on the door armrests, dash, contrast stitching, and around the seats. The seats also have the AT4 logo embroidered around the shoulder area. Notably, Luft reports that seats in the all-new 2023 GMC Canyon are substantially more comfortable than those equipped by the outgoing generation.
Behind the steering wheel, we find an eight-inch digital driver information center readout, while an 11-inch infotainment center screen is positioned on the right. The touchscreen is underlined by a series of hard buttons and knobs, below which is a series of switches controlling various comfort features. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather and incorporates hard buttons at thumb-length for features like the cruise control and the infotainment system.
There’s plenty more to say about the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 interior, so hit play for the full hands-on tour:
As a reminder, the 2023 GMC Canyon is equipped as standard with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, specifically the High-Output variant rated at a maximum of 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed through the second-gen GM 8-speed automatic transmission, while under the skin, you’ll find the updated version of the GM 31XX platform. Production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

So this has come anonymously form a plant worker! I hope this helps better understand what they are dealing with.
, I work at the Wentzville assembly plant i thought it would be much help to share some insight with you about why production is going so horrible. Last year we were behind on production due to shortages, and this caused us to build later into the time frame the plant was supposed to be under construction for the 23 model trucks. Gm hired a company to do the construction work, and they were not too happy that GM didn’t shut the plant down in time. The company decided to take there time so they dragged on for weeks that lead into months to the point we had to come back early while the plant still was under construction. This made Mary the CEO very mad that the company had not yet completed the work, and that the launch is going horrible. During a new launch it’s not unusual for GM to temporarily install the new welding robots for the new vehicle in an empty space in the factory as we’re still building the late model vehicles. So when they closed down the factory, gutted out the old equipment, and installed the new equipment nothing was working right. The company GM hired completely screwed us over and did a horrible job, and took their sweet time to fix issues. So to pull this off Mary sent a team down from Detroit to monitor the issues, and a lot of temporary things had to be made up just to start production. When we did come back we started having part shortages, and quality issues with the fenders that lasted a month. We only started building the work trucks and trail bosses first, which is why you see a bunch of them more then other trims. They also are the ones to first get their EPA certification, The plant did wait a long time on the EPA certifications. So as we waited we still continued to build and later started production on LT and elevation trim levels, We also had built a bunch of cars that sat to wait for shipment that later would be damaged by a hail storm. So fast forwarding today we are at full production, kinks have been fixed along with majority of quality issues, shipment issues are improving. So the problem is now we have so many cars in the overflow lot waiting to be inspected, reworked, and shiped. We only have 4 inspection bays at the plant that do the system checks alignment and so forth, so all of this is slowing production down as we have to throttle back due to overload. Gm has started to combat this by adding more work days, adding more employees to double up jobs, a temporary tent to be able to do more rework jobs and quality checks, and over time for employees. Certain times production is stopped shortly to handle the trucks in the overflow lots, then production resumes again as it gets crazy when you start pulling cars from the overflow lots and cars coming off the line. I hope this helps anyone waiting on their truck it’s definitely affecting us employees also, and everyone at the plant wants to build a good quality truck. I know some won’t understand but at least would get a better idea as to what the plant has been dealing with. Everyone at the plant are really working hard to catch up with orders.
