The Toyota Tacoma is a legendary pickup in its own right, but this particular example is packing a number of interesting modifications – not to mention one very big surprise under the hood. As it turns out, this off-roader is cradling a Chevy Small Block, specifically the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LS3. Now, this high-riding, muscle-bound Toyota Tacoma is up for sale in a new online auction.
Let’s start with the party piece. Making the go is an LS3 V8 plucked straight from the engine bay of a 2012 Chevy Camaro SS. Output is rated at 426 horsepower at 5,900 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque at 4,600 rpm, all of which is fed to the 6L80-E six-speed automatic transmission. Spent gasses exit via Speed Engineering cast exhaust manifolds. The rest of the drivetrain includes the transfer case from a 2018 Chevy Silverado and a locking rear differential, with traction provided by either the rear wheels, or all four wheels, as desired.
Dropping a Chevy Camaro LS3 under the hood is enough to make this Toyota Tacoma pretty damn interesting, but there’s even more to mention about this off-roader. The suspension, for example, was heavily upgraded as well, and now features a Stage 4 kit courtesy of Icon, while the 17-inch SCS wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires.
The exterior was also reworked as well, now featuring a TRD Pro grille, Depo LED headlights, Baja Designs fog lights, and tubular side steps. A TRD skid plate was installed underneath the body, and there’s an HDX gauge cluster from Dakota Digital in the cabin.
Now, anyone interested in parking this LS3-powered Toyota Tacoma in their driveway will find it at cars and bids, where it’ll be listed for auction until June 21th, 2023 at 11:06 PDT. As of this writing, the highest bid of six placed thus far is set at $10,500.
