After unveiling the first teaser for Buick’s upcoming all-electric crossover coupe last week, General Motors has just officially revealed the all-new Buick Electra E4 in China.
The automaker has revealed the first official image gallery and all the major highlights of the all-new Buick Electra E4, except for powertrain details. In fact, GM says the second member of Buick’s Electra zero-emissions family will stand out with its dynamic crossover coupe-style design, the brand’s latest technological innovations and class-leading interior space.
Aesthetically, the all-new Buick Electra E4 presents its own interpretation of Buick’s new Pure Design language, presenting a low roofline and a fastback-like profile, as well as flowing lines giving the vehicle proportions that are both dynamic and elegant. The Electra E4’s low stance begins at the front end, combining a large lower faux grille with a raked shark nose, and split headlamps with signature winged lighting.
The distinctive front-end styling of the all-new Buick Electra E4 are complemented by the crossover coupe’s sculpted silhouette, riding on the same 116.3-inch wheelbase as the Buick Electra E5, but with shorter overhangs and streamlined surfaces that give it plenty of presence. The rear is wide, accentuated by horizontal LED taillights with boomerang tips and a slanted window with dual spoilers.
For its part, the Buick Electra E4’s interior adopts the brand’s latest design cues and technological features, including a floating center console that offers a feeling of lightness and spaciousness. Unlike the Electra E5’s split cockpit, the new Electra E4’s dashboard features a flat, ambient-lit horizontal line that runs the full width and splits it into two sections, with the Buick Virtual Cockpit system’s curved 30-inch EyeMax 6K display on top.
The automaker says the Buick Electra E4’s cabin offers segment-leading headroom up front, as well as good head and knee room for second-row passengers. In addition, the new EV features a massive panoramic roof that uses low-radiation glass with UV protection and other innovations such as dynamic seats with floating headrests, 121-color ambient lighting and plenty of connectivity options.
The all-new Buick Electra E4 will officially launch on Monday, June 19th in China, where it arrives as the second all-electric vehicle based on Ultium Battery and Ultium Drive propulsion technology. The Electra E4 is expected to go on sale later this month as an exclusive vehicle for the Chinese market. As such, the Electra E4 will not be offered in North American countries.

Yep, looks like all the other ones on the outside, again. On the inside, it looks like they glued some iPads to the dash.
LOL, coupes have two doors not four!
Blame Germany for that BS…
No matter how big they build a vehicle it has to called a coupe…
It’s just ridiculous. But it’s all good…
We can’t buy this station wagon anyway…
Why is GM creating all these nice looking EVs for CHINA, yet we here in North America haven’t really seen anything as far as to purchase. It’s nice to see what they have instore for us here but, come on! How about the new Cadillac CT6, GT4 or the Buick LaCrosse? I’m sure they would sell nicely.
James Brown:
I thought you hated EVs.
GM can’t decide on Buick’s US market position and whether it competes with Honda or Acura. Nonetheless, this car would fill a popular US segment and not cannibalize Electra E5 sales anymore than Honda HR-V & CR-V.
If GM is determined not to sell this vehicle as an Encore EV then it should be sold as the new Volt with unique front facia. It is a nice looking vehicle.
GM needs to re-enter Europe faster than planned. Chevrolet has a poor European image and Buick would be a fresh slate for challenging Peugeot, Vauxhall/Opel, VW. Buick-GMC would be even better with Chevrolet EVs rebadged. Following Tesla’s direct to customer with no dealer model would work well. Europe is shifting to err electric fast and t hff e Ultium stable is one of the best out there.
MY Wifes Opinion … it is ok, did not liked the front grille but rest ok
MY Opinion …. from the Chinese Buick Mark it will sells a lot … not for me … for the rich people who wants EV… trend !
Not bad looking. Just a couple of minor tweaks would make it amazing. They could tone down the front with the look of the 2021 Encore. Then they could paint the black lower moldings and around the wheels. Then just lower the rear window slope while elongating the rear hatch about a foot. Kind of like a trunk. Replace that ugly screen with a low profile dash and flush screens nicely integrated into the dash layout. Lastly, put some nice looking 18″ wheels with higher profile tires for a better ride. That’s it. Nothing much and it would be a really nice sedan.
And let’s talk about the latest terrible fad of these huge sunroofs that don’t open. Whoever came up with this should be shot on the spot. You can’t close any shades. You can’t block it off. It’s there and always the same. Volvo has this in the C40 and it’s terrible. Even people who do like sunroofs don’t seem to like these as you can’t open anything for that “open air” feeling. It gets really hot in there and the A/C has to work even harder to keep the cabin cool. It’s so bad that many people are now having the stupid thing tinted with limo type dark tint. Worst idea ever.
Why don’t you become a designer for GM? You’re obviously qualified since you complain about everything GM makes
Hey little buzzard, why don’t you learn to have a little fun with this stuff? I was joking around and being sarcastic. Dang, you people on here are way too serious all the time. That, and way too quick to defend GM under any circumstances. But I get it. I used to be an apologist for GM too, but after they torched every bridge I crossed with GM, I’m no longer taking it. I’m only being honest about some of the stupid stuff GM is doing.
I don’t defend GM for everything. I have said numerous times that I’m not a big fan of all their little 3 and 4 cylinder turbos. I own a 2017 Encore. If it weren’t for the 3 cylinder turbo that they put in the Encore GX and the new Trax I would consider buying one.
disagree with your styling views, as designer saying, indeed love panorama roof … actually like the car as it is, miss just some more chrome details around. Please GM & GMA Designers, do not follow Dan B, neither me
Every one of these new Ultium -based vehicles has the ‘Stockbroker’ dashboard..
Everyone’s touch is different but my LYRIQ has the most difficult – almost impossible to control touch screen. And you have to do almost everything from it… Takes forever to control the trip odometer, as a representative example – something I can do in other GM cars in my sleep.
Meanwhile, the touch screen in my 2019 VOLT is instantly responsive. My 2023 LYRIQ is downright dangerous to operate and I have to force myself to look out the windshield and then constantly play with the touch screen later to FINALLY get it to do something.
BIG FAIL. Probably will be my final GM purchase. It is THAT BAD.
Bill: I’m a vocal person, so almost everyone on here knows how much I dislike the obnoxious screens they are going to. But what most on here don’t know is why. You really hit the nail on the head with your real world example of just how bad these things are. Yes, I find the looks to be lacking in any true style and it’s a cheap way to do everything. Yet because it’s a form of a computer, most think it’s better than the old systems. However, it’s the total distractions these screens have created and will only get worse as they make them bigger and do more of the normal functions we use every time we are in our vehicles. Add to that mix the more powerful and faster EV’s, and our roads are becoming much more dangerous. All for what? So that one person can brag that their screen is bigger than the next guys? Stupid.
I could learn to live with the silly screen, and most will probably love it….. But it is simply UNRESPONSIVE to my fingers – so I don’t know if my pinkies are made of stone or what but it is a deal breaker for me…. Its THAT BAD. Not ready for prime time.
Volt screen perfect.
Bolt screen a bit worse but tolerable.
Lyriq Screen absolutely horrid… Nobody tests these things? Rest of the car okay. I like the increased range and bigger size. The only 2 reasons I bought this expensive disappointment.
People here are dopey
If they unanimously down vote a serious comment.
Bill: Not sure if you ever go to FordAuthority (sister site to this), but on that one they don’t have the stupid thumbs up/down. GM Authority should also do that.
I look at it this way. If I feel a certain way or have my opinion about something or if I can comment on something in a factual way, I could care less if it gets up/down votes. I often read comments where people bring that up, and I ask why? Who cares? Personally, I think it takes away from the points others may be trying to make and it causes others to keep from leaving comments that are more honest in search of getting more up votes (or maybe just scared to be honest in fear of down votes??).
Either way, your comments are spot on and believe me when I say you are not the only person with this issue (on many cars). Just because so many on here want a giant flat screen stuck to the dash in front of them doesn’t make it safe or prudent. But those are the same people who will down vote anyone saying anything bad about their addiction to the screens.
First it was Lucid they copied with the Proxima, now it’s the Nissan Ariya with this. Harley Earl is rolling in his grave.
GM design has had to take a back seat to engineering while they figure out the EV stuff…
The Lyriq is so mundane I didn’t even test-drive it…
I’ll wait for GMs next efforts before I even think about one of their EVs.
Now that we sold the Camaro we have no GM vehicle for the first time in over a decade…
Stuff is to expensive these days to “Settle”…
I like it. They should build it here for the North American market.
That’s not a coupe, coupe’s only have two doors. Sorry if someone else already pointed this out for the younger folks but it’s worth saying again. However I do like the trend back towards the sedan shape. But it’s EV, I’m out.
I still can’t believe that we gave up USA Pontiacs for Chinese Buick’s.
It wasn’t a Pontiac vs Buick decision, not one or the other. The government, which was loaning GM money, wanted both brands to be cut, but GM was able to convince them that Buick was profitable.
Yup, GM made the case for Buick over Pontiac. So now we have Chinese Buick’s and no new Pontiacs (I still have two pony’s in my driveway). My grandkids laugh when I say we’re driving the pony to the store.
Please search for the online video interviews in which Bob Lutz talked about Pontiac. Here is a quotation from one interview he did at the Petersen Automotive Museum in California: “The Feds said ‘yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?’ and the answer was ‘Nothing.’ So, it goes. And, when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says ‘I don’t want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don’t get the money,’ it doesn’t take you very long to make up your mind.” They didn’t make the case for Buick over Pontiac, they made the case for Buick, period. They were unable to make the case for Pontiac, period. It was two separate decisions, not one against the other!
Love the name salad… will that fit on the lift gate?
Lol
It’s NOT a coupe…
It’s a kinda tall station wagon…
Just Beautiful! Hopefully they sell it in the USA!
By the time GM gets around to delivering these vehicles in the US (if ever) they will be outdated. US has become a second or third tier country for GM with their main focus on sales and production in China. I’ll bet in 10 years most of their auto and battery plants are outside the US (including their corvette factory) regardless off what they are telling the public today. The GMs will all be imported from either China or new factories in Mexico….wherever their main parts are manufactured.
