Just hours after GM Authority exclusively reported on the impending debut of the upcoming Buick Electra E4 in China, General Motors revealed the first teaser for Buick‘s all-electric utility vehicle it defines as a crossover coupe.
SAIC-GM, GM’s main joint venture in China, has revealed the first teaser image of the upcoming Buick Electra E4, confirming the vehicle’s imminent world debut in the Asian country. Notably, the automaker announced the Electra E4’s focus and positioning in the Chinese market by officially referring to it as Buick’s first zero-emission crossover coupe.
In fact, the teaser image of the upcoming Buick Electra E4 previews the side profile and highlights the dynamic coupe-like silhouette of the second member of the new family of Electra crossovers. It shows the Electra E4’s low roofline and the side profile of the model’s bodywork, which includes several aerodynamic elements such as the shark nose front end, an antenna, a roof spoiler and a ducktail spoiler integrated into the tailgate.
Additionally, the colorful background of the Buick Electra E4’s first official image previews the wide color palette the crossover coupe will be available with. SAIC-GM says the Electra E4 will seek to win over younger customers with an initial offering of seven body colors and a list of exclusive trims to meet users’ personalized needs.
As the production model of the Buick Electra-X Concept introduced last year, the upcoming Buick Electra E4 will stand out with its sculpted bodywork and elegant proportions that take advantage of form-based surfaces rather than complex lines. Its sporty character will be further accentuated by introducing the Tri-Shield brand’s first GS variant in a fully electric vehicle.
The upcoming Buick Electra E4 crossover coupe is expected to officially debut on June 19th during a special unveiling event in China, according to sources familiar with the matter. The new model will be positioned below the all-new Buick Electra E5 and will be an exclusive vehicle for the Chinese domestic market.

A coupe has two doors. I don’t know what a coupe like profile is, but there isn’t a thing about that that makes me think coupe. I think China when I see it, but not coupe.
The vehicle is awesome! Beautiful sleek modern design, tech-forward and perfect sized. Bring it here, NOW. Good job Buick.
It’s just marketing departments. “Coupe SUV” just sounds sexier than “hatchback”, apparently.
Mr. Mike is correct – historically a coupe has had two doors, and never four. I think automotive history is something that is fading away among especially younger people within and in support of the auto industry. Shame on Mercedes-Benz for advertising certain M-Bs with four doors as coupes.
For those who aren’t convinced, just remember that the primary difference between a Cadillac Coupe de Ville and a Cadillac Sedan de Ville was the number of doors each had.
Thank you Stuwart. Let’s not forget who started it!
Shame this isn’t coming to North America. Seems like it could be on par with the recently revealed Volvo EX30.
“A coupe is a passenger car with a sloping or truncated rear roofline and two doors.”
A coupe much like the Mach-E is a Mustang? Not taking the designation into consideration I would buy it in a Heart beat depending on Specs. Really like the look.
For me General Motors stopped being an American brand. Now is just a cheap Chinese brand that is selling in America some of their models. Wack!!
They have been global for a long time, there sonny! Even way on back when you thought they made good cars 50’s 60’s 70’s… geez…
