After the appointment of Hector Villarreal as the new president and CEO of GM Korea, who is the outgoing vice president of sales of the Mexican subsidiary, General Motors has just appointed new sales and marketing executives in Mexico.
The automaker named Jorge Plata as the new vice president of sales, service and marketing of GM Mexico, replacing Hector Villarreal in the position as of August 1st, when both corporate appointments take effect. Plata is the current director of marketing and advertising of GM’s Mexican subsidiary, a position that will now be occupied by Adriana Schutte when the executive assumes the new management responsibility.
“I am very pleased to announce the appointment of two talented Mexicans from General Motors who have had outstanding careers,” said President and CEO of GM Mexico, Francisco Garza. “I am convinced that the experience of Jorge and Adriana, together with the distributors, will be key to continue the positioning of our brands to customers’ preferences,” he added.
As the new vice president of sales, service and marketing of GM Mexico, Jorge Plata will report directly to Francisco Garza as the top leader of the corporation in the Latin country and will join the Executive Committee of the company – also chaired by Garza. Among his responsibilities are managing the local strategy of Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac, in addition to managing the relationship with distributors in Mexico and 14 countries across Central America and the Caribbean.
As the new director of marketing and advertising of GM Mexico, Adriana Schutte will be responsible for launching new products to the market, including both internal combustion and electric vehicles, for the company’s four brands in that country. Schutte is promoted from her current position as director of premium sales and will report to Jorge Plata who assumes the reins of the entire region.
Jorge Plata is an industrial engineer and reaches the second most important leadership position at GM Mexico with more than 20 years of experience at the company, where he began his career in 2002 as a marketing specialist. Meanwhile, Adriana Schutte has a degree in Business Administration with a specialty in International Business and has been working in the marketing area of the Mexican subsidiary since 2018.
